Developers will scramble for another console outlet!

Gamers will bite the bullet and buy the Wii U!

Not everyone will just go and buy a Ps4.

You just dont get it do you? The major reason devs ignored the Wii U is because the Nintendo did not consult with devs who are working on next gen titles and build their consoles to promote unity between both third parties and themselves. The Wii U cannot even run the games planned for next gen properly and the sales  of the Wii U arent even worth it to go through the major downporting. Nintendos mindset was completely set on outpacing the last gen consoles and thats where the Wii U will stay. From the looks of X, Bayonetta and the rest of the other games are concerned that have been revealed, I can tell slightly above last gen is as far as the Wii U.  This has nothing to do with deals. Sony and Microsoft were openminded enough to make consoles that meet the needs to devs who want to make their games run smoothly on their consoles so they can profit. Its too late for the Wii U period. Even if the Xbox disappeared from the face of the earth Nintendo would be worse off being left alone with Sony. Remember the PS1 era? Microsoft is the biggest distraction ever to stand in the way of Sony destroying Nintendo. Think about it.

The Wii U can't replace the Xbox 1. The obvious replacement for the Xbox one would be a PS4, even if you hate Sony.

nah they would switch to PS4 or PC gaming before they consider the wii U.

I can see a lot of people sticking with just ps4 this generation and also a smaller group both ps4 and wii u. Xbox one has the difficult position of being inferior to ps4 in everyway except for the kinect functionality that most people aren't bothered about. Like Nintendo, Microsoft have to sell the xbox one on the exclusive game experiences they can release. The trouble is for Microsoft this is much more difficult as Nintendo can sell their console at a budget price but Microsoft can not. If Nintendo sell a Mariokart bundle wii u for £169.99 this christmas its a price point many can afford but a Xbox one at £379 with a game like Titanfall is not. For me the xbox one needs to be something like £249 with a game before I'll purchase. It's quite possible the ps4 will be available for £299 with a game this christmas. Not only that but buying a xbox one requires a subscription for full functionality. This makes it a poor choice for a second console. I won't be subscribing to xbox live so I'm limited to single player experiences which again knocks down the value of the console. I love gaming but its difficult for me to justify an xbox one. My next console purchase will be ps4 when there is a wider choice of games.

I think there is a strong possibility that the wii u will outsell the xbox one but not for the reasons this thread suggests. I don't believe the consoles compete with each other directly.

"A new hope" - reloaded.

No, because X1 will overtake the Wii U soon. The only way to save the Wii - U is to make the useless tablet optional in order to cut down the price to 149$ for the system bundled with Wiimote, Wii Sports, Mario / Luigi Bros. U and Mario 3D World or Mario Kart. They also should bring out a smaller, lightweight tablet with a better and longer lasting battery as an accessory.

Wii U still has every possibility of flourishing whether or not XB1 "fails", honestly.

A very unbiased and sober account of the situation. No really. ;)

We have to ask: What would make MS fail in the first place?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
