Forums - Sales Discussion - Global SW & HW UP!! - Week ending Feb 8 (ADJUSTMENTS - PS4 157k, X1 54k, WiiU 36k - PS4 64% marketshare)

Vita is still up YoY which is good I guess and still tracking above Wii U. It's also up in NA (lol), flat in EU, and down in JP. Hopefully starting in late February sales start to pick up for Vita in Japan again to offset last years price cut. I wonder if next week we'll see Vita sales in NA go up a little for Toukiden and Danganronpa...

Vita 2013-  258,310

Vita 2014-  367,100

Wii U 2014-  323,299

Kinda hard to believe this.  I'd have thought Vita's early 2013 would've carried forward some sales momentum from the games it had in holiday 2012 but I guess it didn't at all, lol.

Though, are you sure about that "up in NA; down in JP" comment.  Vita is very much up YoY in Japan; don't know about NA but I assume it's down.

why not add 3ds+vita numbers in the opening?

Sometimes i wonder pezus

There were days when Xbox fans used to make title of NPD threads with remarks like '360 2x PS3' or '360 outsells PS3 and PSP combined' etc. Seems like Sony fans are returning the favour.

I never thought the eighth gen. Would be so one sided so early in the gen. MS realy screwed this thing up and I'm not even sure wht went wrong with ninty.

PS4 with 61% marketshare this week...without Japan

japan won't be very relevant in that percentage for more than 2 weeks.

Haha, want to bet? PS4 should sell more in its third week in Japan than WiiU WW that week, barring complete sellouts and lack of stock.

You will regret it. it may even be hard for ps4's japan 3rd week to compete with wii u's japanese sales for the same week.

Alright. Conditions?

sounds straight forward. I win if ps4 week 3 in japan < Wii U WW numbers for the same week.

you win if ps4 week 3 in japan > Wii U WW numbers for the same week.

I see you've thought this through, Zero.

WiiU launched in Japan on its third week of global sales.  Though I don't know why you're bringing WW into this since he was talking about Japanese third weeks.

If you do actually take the bet at hand and compare Japanese third weeks, then WiiU's is the week before Christmas and PS4's is some random week in March.

Either way, it's a pretty incomparable situation and lose-lose for PS4.

360 dead? Can't believe how quickly it went below 30k. It's not like One is stealing sales from it

Fun fact, both PS3 and 360 are down massively YoY.

09th Feb 2013

PS3 170,907 (-1%) 74,596,514
X360 133,157 (+9%) 75,717,186

X1 sales are respectable considering its the most expensive console on the market. That's an indication sales will be strong after price cuts. As was PS3.

Bold: Obviously. Sales for both are shockingly low. But at least we can say PS4 is stealing PS3 sales.

One is selling considerably worse than PS3 now weekly, and it wasn't even out in Europe. I don't doubt that sales can increase quite a bit with price cuts, though. Just won't come anywhere near PS4 levels.

We already know what's stealing X1 sales, the price. Its deterring Xbox 360 fans from upgrading.

The 360 isn't selling a massive amount of hardware each week, but its still selling a massive amount of software every week. Hence, many people are still content with their 7th gen console.

Common sense!

On top of that, going from 75k sales to 59K sales is one thing. Going from 75K sales to 29K is another thing entirley.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I don't think that's what he means. The bet is about PS4s 3rd japanese week and the Wii U in the same week.

Pezus says that the PS4 will sell more units in Japan in the week ending March 9th than the Wii U will worldwide in that week, Zero says it won't.

So I guess the first next gen title to break 1 million in the US will be XBone version of CoD. Not really surprising.

It might be the third not first :p

So is it Xbox One vs. WiiU now? The PS4 obviously isn't a part of this anymore.

I think it's Xbox One versus PS3. That is if we want to keep it interesting.

Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.
