I'm not talking about the writing, i'm talking about the events. And that means events that no one cares about. Stories of nobodies (the filler ones). Even the story of Joel and Elly is quite uneventful until the end and keeps getting dragged along throught the game with minimal advance (it actually reminds me of Tales of Graces that does the same). I really reject beeing pinned with the minority for thinking the story is not amazing. It completely doesnt compare to something like a Mass Effect or even to something of a smaller scale like Legacy of Kain. Heck, even Uncharted 3 is more eventful. The gameplay is the only thing that is done right in the game. It toally doesnt deserve any of the 10 out of 10 grades. I know its difficult to see now due to social pressure, but with time it will sink in. There is much that can be improved in a sequal. Somehow i doubt it will get 10 of 10's then though. Its just how the system works. |
What was right there? There couldn't have been a boss fight the way you seem to think. Marlene was unarmed and begging Joel to change his mind and give up Ellie. That cutscene was the climax of the game and it could only play out the way it did (yet was shocking when it happened). The winter boss fight works because that guy was trying to kill Ellie.
Filler stories? You don't have to pick up and read the items in the game if you don't want to. Henry and Sam's story add great perspective. So does Joel's brother.
Come on don't compare it to Mass Effect. Those are two very different franchises.
There's gotta be a name for this phenominom: Everyone likes ______. ______ is very popular. Therefore, I cannot like _______. _______ is to mainstream.
Not trying to be mean, ignore subjective scores given to games and enjoy them for what they are.
