Give me 60fps or give me death

I don't care about graphics that much. This obsession with graphics is killing the gaming indusrty. The bloated budgets of AAA titles are getting out of hand. I care more about story and gameplay than graphics. Western devopers have a hard time getting aesteics right. You don't need that much power to make a beautiful game. I love the way Telltale games look. I love cell shaded graphics.

In the end just make sure your whole world has a unified look that compliments the gameplay.

60fps @ 720p / 900p / 1080p?

Not ture, it shity devs making shity games being pushed by shity corporations and greedy people mikling the fuck out of all they can till they run it to the ground thats hurting the industry.

Uncharted and TLOA are way more then just graphics but i truely appreciate the fact they look awesome, Halo has never really been ohh look its graphics its just a kick ass game and it sales fuck loads.  At the end of the day good games with mass appeal sale great, great games sale great even if they are niche.  And mediocricy is rewarded with mediocre sales.  Sadly gaming is filled with mediocre content. 

Would it be as easy to make a emotinal connection to the characters of TLOS or Mass effect if they didnt look so realistic, i say it be harder.  We easier idnetify with thing that are simialr to us.  Thus graphics are massivly important.

Well, 60 fps is what they will sacrifice first, since it won't impact visually. The problem in going with less than 1080p is that interpolation generates bad results. In PS3, as an example, compare The Last of Us with GT6. They are from different genres, but it's perfectly visible that TLOU is blurry (1280x720) while GT6 is much clearer (1440x1080). 

Even Metal Gear Solid 4, that has blurry textures, impressed me when I went from my old 23' monitor to my current 40' TV. Most games suffered with the bigger screen, while MGS4 actually didn't suffer a lot because of the higher resolution, even with more dated visuals.

Now bigger screens are becoming more common. 40' is the minimum and a lot of people has 55' or 60' TV sets. TLOU doesn't look as good in a 55' TV I saw it as it does in my 40' (both TVs from Samsung and the 55' is a higher end set with better image), because 720p doesn't scale well. That will probably drive them to keep 1080p or at least 900p if the hardware upscalers can do a good job.

In XBO's defense, their current hardware upscaler is terrible. MS will send a fix on an update before Titanfall's release. That should improve things a bit. However, upscaled 720p/900p won't looks as good as 1080p and that's it.

1080P has mostly been a pissing contest matter to me. Better graphics, particle effects, textures, physics, are all more important.

I agree with this. We already see PS4 going to 30 fps for better graphics. The developers of 1886 are going to put bars on the screen for better AA.

Maybe down the road developers will do both 30 fps and 720p to really push the graphics capabilities of the hardware. I think that's when we'll really see PS4 doing graphics beyond the X1's capabilities.
