I actually meant it's peak year, not it's peak month. And it's not 50k a week in america, it's 50k in an entire month.

 

For comparisons sake the 3DS sold around 150k this time last year, with less software and no 2DS

Note that this is a "weekly" chart, and the 3DS's numbers for North America are quite clearly 50K in that week.

It's selling 50K per week in America, not per month.

There's really not much Nintendo can do at this point. The handheld market has shrunk way too much at this point. Smartphones and tablets aren't going away. I don't even think the 3DS will pass the PSP anymore.

By comparision to the DS and PSP coming off their first January after the third holiday season for each

PSP (Jan 2008) - 230k

DS (Jan 2007) - 239k

3DS (Jan 2014) - 70k-ish (?)

That 50K on the front page chart is not for a whole month, but for one week. 50k in one week seems pretty good to me.

vgchartz overtracked the 3DS. So, i wouldn't look at those numbers

He's talking about NPD numbers. The 3DS was way overtracked on VGC and is actually at 50-70k for the month.

OT: It definitely is hitting saturation point in Japan, although it's still holding pretty well despite that. Europe also seems to be putting out pretty good numbers, too. (If memory serves...) We can talk about this at the end of the year.

Ha? If you don't think the 3DS is passing the PSP, your crazy. A down week doesn't mean anything, 3DS is going to continue to get super solid support, and it's still going to sell really well.
