X, a game that comes out next year, looks a full gen behind infamous, a game that releases next month.

...by the time X comes out the good looking next-gen games will start rolling out.   it's going to be brutal...

shhhhhh ;)

don't say it out loud

There were still a lot that were 720p, and those that weren't were still well above 480p.

And Bayonetta 2  seems to have some pretty nice shading and physics while running at 60fps.

I don't know what you call "nice" per se and it doesn't look bad I think but it pales in comparison to the new HD twins. Most of the new PS4/X1 games are using tessellation and compute shaders. Alot of the WII U games lack displacement mapping and that causes soome fairly low poly models all around the games. The new PS4 and X1 games also have tons of lighting to it too along with ambient occlusion to boot.

Bayonetta's physics is quite a bit underwhelming as I was expecting something on the lines of BF4's levelution or Tom clancy's the division bullet penetration. Bayonetta's 2 destructability looks more like an animation than an implementation of destructible geometry.

I'm not sure why a linear hack-and-slash like Bayonetta would need advanced physics in that sense. Why were you expecting this?

And as a PC gamer, I can appreciate those details, but those are exactly that: details.

By that statement then why are you gaming on PC when consoles could be enough ? C'mon man you know the code of PC gamers and the like.

The Wii U has the power to render a game world in which the only real advantage the PS4/XBox1 has is in the details.  That is a pretty good summary of everything I've ever said.  This is why seeing these games makes me laugh at people calling the Wii U underpowered.

Really ? Just in details ? Alot of games have being lacking in the interactivity department and that can be solved by having tons of characters and better AI's. Last generation games have being lacking in ragdoll physics and fluid mechanics.

The PS4 and the X1 don't just improve on textures and geometry but are also aiming to give you better interactivity and physics. Do you seriously think the WII U can handle fluid simulation ?

I didn't say it looked as good as PS4/Xbone, but it much closer to them than Wii was to PS3/360.

Wii U can do compute shading, ambient occlusion, and tesselation too, just not as much of it as PS4/X1. With the Wii, on the other hand, you simply couldn't do a lot of the effects PS3 and 360 could.

Environment destruction ... It would be nice to see some enemies get bashed at whatever building to see the building get deformed in realtime. I would also want to crush some guys using whatever vehicle was near bayonetta and not just some specific ones either like seen in a cutscene or animation.

I don't think that comes even close to the level of destruction going on in BF4. :P Nor do I believe it would add a lot to the gameplay, unless it becomes a major focal point. As is, Bayonetta is like Devil May Cry: all stylish action with prebaked setpieces. But, come to think of it, I think massive environmental destruction would fit a potential Metal Gear Rising sequel like a glove, given that destroying objects is already a fun aspect of its formula.

That's a pretty good rig you got there ...

So what exaclty are you trying to pull here in this thread anyway ?

Why exactly are you downplaying the difference between the PS4/X1 and WII U when they have an even bigger gap than your PC compared to the next gen HD twins ?

Both X and Bayonetta 2 don't even compare to ANY of the next gen HD twins.

I answered that right after I told you to watch my video for my specs, lol

Though, you made my point with that last line.  I never said the PS4/XBox1 aren't more powerful, but looking at Bayonetta 2 and 'X' makes the idea that the game would look and be SO much better on the PS4/XBox1 clearly a fanboy perspective.

My point of this thread was to see how many other people agree that the Wii U is no slouch, and that the slamming of the Wii U as "underpowered" just needs to stop.  Is the Wii U less powerful?  Sure.  Is it underpowered?  No.

Based on the posts of yours I've seen, you're in no position to determine what is and isn't fanboyish.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4IBKMApzR0

How do you explain this then ? It took 6 hours to render just 300 frames for that scene in the video.

You have to be sure that Art of balance isn't some precomputed animation in play ... or some other hack

And just how many particles were used in that puzzle anyway ? The video shown looked like it was using the standard 300 000 particles to render the fluid accurately while we don't even know how many particles were used in art of balance. Plus the voxel sizes also affect performance.

We could fix bayonetta to be a more open world game to help mitigate that ...

Destuction would then become a better aspect of the gameplay. It doesn't have to be exactly like last generation with better textures and poly counts ... Developers need to keep setting up more new boundries too.
