Because Greatness Awaits®

This is probably not the best catch phrase.

Anywho, it's all hype. And the fact that if you really want something, no matter the details, you go out and get it. Kind of like the people who bought the 3DS when it launched. Because we all knew Greatness Awaited... and awaited... and awaited... and then came!

It's cheap, It's powerful, It's focuses firstly on games, they've improved the controller, and It will have the superior versions of all the multiplatform games.

Than throw in the extra bonus of Naughty Dog.

Simple really.

Oh and they didn't try to bend consumers over and penetrate them repeatedly.

It's mostly because a lot of people are tired of their ancient PS3/360 and want to upgrade to a new console ... the PS4 has been designated the "golden child" because it's $100 cheaper with equal/better specs to the X1.

Though I agree based on actual merit, it's a bit overrated. The X1 has the better library.

How? Ps4 has had new games fleshing out it;s library and adding variety every month, with indies the ps4 has a better lineup currently. outlast is excellent. It's free.

dude, u remind me of a member named IAMDEATH

to answer the OP, I think its just been really marketed well, and word of mouth has done wonders for the system.

Ew.

Never touching anyone's 3DS ever again.

Also, it's not my catchphrase, it's Sony's.

Well I really like my PS4. I mean I am not bouncing off the walls about it but it is really nice. Has a great interface too. And even though it really doesn't have big games on it yet (although Killzone was a big game for some people just not me) it isn't like the future lineup is lacking. So some, like me, bought it early as a future investment for games to come.

Zucas, will the PS4 be "your Xbox 360" for this gen?

Depends on a few factors.  One, how improved is the online infrastructure.  Big fan of Xlive and have been a member for almost 9 years now.  Most of my friends play that online too.  So a lot will depend on the online.  Second, is just how long it takes me to get an X1.  I want one as soon as Halo comes out but things might change.

If I had to give you an answer though, I would say probably not.  I just seem to like the Xbox systems more and don't see a drastic transition over to Playstation.  However, I will probably be playing a lot more games on Playstation than I have in the past.

I've played my Wii U and 3DS more than my Ps4 (which I got on day 1). Like the OP says there's no games for it (yet). I've played one boxed retail game, Knack, 1 free PSN game Resogun and tried, but didn't like, the PS Plus game Don't Starve. I've cancelled my PS Plus membership until I get word of something worthwhile having it for.

Don't get me wrong, I know I don't speak out for the 'majority' or masses of Sony drones out there who will gobble up anything Sony chucks at them, but the PS4 launch window experience, for me, has been lacking. I know this will change, slowly, as the launch window fades into the mists of time, so I'm just biding my time with my Wii U and 3DS, which actually have some games due sooner, rather than later.

plenty of games, plus every multiplat looks/plays better on ps4

I know it is Sony's catchphrase. I've seen the ads on TV plenty.

That was also probably not the best wording from me...!

Haha so true.  Went from never touching my PS3 for 3 years to playing it on a daily basis.  Not sure if I can be turned form Xlive though.

Because Sony played all their cards right. Price, hardware, PR, hype, coming off of the back of the PS3 and huge 3rd party games like Battlefield, COD and Fifa.

The reason why I bought it was because of its future potential. It won't be long before the amazing developers working on the PS3 migrate to the PS4.
