Forums - Sales - Japan Sales: Media Create; Famitsu & Dengeki (Feb 3-9)

*mumbles under breath* haha what 3DS peak year?! (-80k from last year with a new game)...recent trend continues of new 3ds games with high opening weeks doing nothing for the 3DS.

Anywho, Famitsu also came out with their majority PS4 reviews...even Knack got at 70%, Yakuza at 39/40...look for the PS4 to do wonders in Japan. Hopefully Yakuza sales will propel 3rd parties in japan to finally get off the snide and start producing for the system.

It's clear that 3DS reached its peak during 2012-2013. Problem is that the handheld market in Japan will die along with the 3DS sales as there isn't another option to sustain it.

Damn, the Japanese market is quite simply crashing. I can't believe some people still have high expectations for Japan in the 8th gen.

Hmm, good legs for some things (Youkai, Kirby, Pokemon, GTA V, Attack on Titan) and bad ones for others (that Gundam Vs. drop is pretty heavy, I though it would do 400k LTD but now I think that's wrong, plus Basara 4 and Disgaea, though those are more as expected)

Slightly disappointed with 18k for Vita, given how small some of the previous drops were I though it would just hang on to >20k territory, but it seems not.

God I hope PS4 does well, it really could go either way at this point :(

Correct me, but this was not the week of release of monster hunter frontier on wiiu and ps3?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Poor WiiU.. hey... how can MD chart show 4 WiiU games among the 20 best sellers while Famitsu chart doesn´t show any ? Pffffff...... sales numbers for the videogame market are really, really, uncertain

Famitsu counts download vouchers included in console bundles; Media Create does not.

Thanks for clarifying this.

It´s about time we have aso charts for digital sales, isn´t it? Retail sales alone can´t give us a clear view of the market anymore. But, damn it, it´s so hard to find information about that. Companies are still a lot secretive about it.

True, but at least now Famitsu are giving us monthly charts with digital sales. Not much, but it's progress, hopefully one day we'll have weekly updates which include digital.

Also does anyone know if we're ever going to get the December digital figures? Weird that they'd miss them out but do both November and January

22th Feb, hurry up, I'm too curious about the PS4 numbers at launch!

Like I said. They shouldn't even bother anymore.   The evidence is right here.

Vita holding nice, 3DS not gaining much of DQ boost, but that was predictable.
WiiU though..
And Puyo Puyo appears to flop everywhere if we check those Stock Indicators of Famitsu, especially the WiiU version.
