I've given my opinion on alternate skins before but I suppose I will restate it.

There are some characters who are very similar and would be a waste of resources to include. I see this with Diddy/Dixie as well as Fox/Falco/Wolf etc. In order to please as many people as possible one simple solution would be to include these characters as alternative skins.

For example, have Diddy as the main character but be able to switch to Dixie which has a different aesthetic but plays the same. We saw this with the Male/Female Trainer characters. Likely they will just be alternate skins of each other and to reduce clones but keep everyone happy, it should be done with other characters such as Diddy/Dixie and Fox/Wolf/Falco and Multiple gens of pokemon starters for Pokemon trainer and Dr Mario and possibly some FE characters...

I really hope Dixie Kong gets added, due to a lack of female characters and lack of Donkey Kong characters I think she would fit really well and be a really nice addition to the roster.

Seeing as how Nintendo is adding some off the wall characters like wii fit trainer and the villager I think Cranky Kong could be a possibility. A very unlikely possibility but still a possibility.

Edit: I would be really annoyed if Dixie Kong was added as a skin to diddy kong. I think she deserves a player spot.

That said, he be cool to stay in especially with a unique moveset but if we want new characters we have to let go of a couple unfortunately. If it were up to me i keep them all. I play with Wolf alot but i kno not to expect him at all :(

R.O.B is an extremly important part of Nintendo's history.  Extremly.  He was the trojan horse Nintendo used to sneak the NES into homes after the video game crash of the 80s.  He was, by the way, an international item, not just American... and he was playable in Mario Kart before Smash.  He has had cameos in Pikmin, F-Zero, Kirby, Star Tropics, and Rob 64 in Star Fox was named after him.

He has a unique moveset and Sakurai has said he wants uniqueness to be a focus of this game, and that he wants to include as many characters as possible.  0% chance he is cut, like I said, people said this same exact thing about Game and Watch before Brawl came out.

I think people are overestimating cuts, I think we will only see 2-3 cuts from Brawl, with a small chance we see no cuts.

To stay on Topic:  I'ld like to have Dixie as her own character, and I think DK deserves 3 reps.

Thats why immaking those threads (will they return) to see who is right or wrong!

Anyway there are 39 (40 if mewtwo is counted since lots of people want him back) in SSB, if they cut 2-3 that leave 37-38 + the 4 newcomers. That be 41-42. I think there will be 40-44 characters in the game (seems likely as he stated he wont increase the roster, but he will still increase imo).

Thats why i say thy'll cut at least 6 characters. In order imo is definitely going to leave SSB.

Snake= Metalgear doesn't even have games on Nintendo Platfrms!

Ike= Replaced by Chrom

Wolf= Either Replaced by Krstal or just gonecuz we already have 2 of a similar character.

 

The others i listec before have a small chance but thats just me (like 10%-30% chance). I wouldn't be surprised though if ROB joins back! I was surprised with Toon Link though lol (not lucario)

Idk after Lucario was revealed I feel like every Brawl veteran has a chance to make it back, even Snake (btw Twin Snakes was released on the Gamecube and Metal Gear Solid 3D was on the 3DS). You say Ike should be replaced by Chrom because he is the latest protagonist, but by that logic Lucario should have been replaced by some 6th gen pokemon. And if you say Lucario is still important because he has a mega evolution in X/Y, well Ike showed up in DLC chapters in Awakening and was one of the only FE characters to get an ancestor (Priam) in one of the paralogues.
