You've got to consider that peoples' taste in games varies a lot, and they need to release enough games to fit most people. A lot of people are happy grabbing up another Mario Kart for instance, but I'm not one of those people. To me, that big ol' list has about two great games and the rest are just meh. I can't wait for Zelda, but that's one of the few games that looks truly amazing to me, and if the system ended with that there would be no way I'd buy the next system until I saw the games first.

Some people look at the Wii U and see a ton of great games, and some people look at it and see almost none. They've got to shrink that second group before the system's done.

You have to understand why its a bad idea.

Nintendo cant rush the Wii U out or it will lose consumer trust. That is the only thing they have going for them now. If they lose that they will be going the way of SEGA and it will be impossible to release a sucessful sucessor.
Dont buy into the negativity. A Nintendo console only needs Nintendo games to be worth your money. No need to rush it out for another one that will probably repeat the cycle. Even with a console the same level of power as X1 and PS4 i still dont see Nintendo getting any worthwhile third party support. The GC didnt, so why would it be any different now?

The GC didn't get third party support because of its weird tiny disks, just as the N64 didn't because of it's cartridges.

I would really like a Metroid game and I am hoping that isn't asking too much haha.

The game disc was myth. Most games were able to be put on the disc of the GameCube. Only a few couldn't.

1. No

2. Do you think 3rd party companies cared? No. They just didn't want to do it differently for two different systems.

Gamecube actually did get pretty solid 3rd party support. Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Burnout, EA Sports Series, Need for Speed, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Soul Calibur II, Sonic Heroes, Tak, I-Ninja, Spider Man, X-Men, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Spawn, licensend game based of kids shows/movies.

It also had a bunch of exclusives/timed exclusives like Resident Evil Remake/Zero/RE4, Viewtiful Joe, Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles, Tales of Symphonia, Billy Hatcher, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and collaborations like F-Zero GX and Star Fox Assault.

Gamecube not having 3rd party support is the myth.

After next generation, next generation...;P
of course. that is life.

NOOOOO! And I have a feeling that Nintendo is going to drag out this gen to prove a point if the Wii U picks and starts moving consoles.

I actually agree. It is still true that it struggled somewhat with third party support, and that WAS due to the disk issue, but regardless of that, it did have its fair share of 3rd party support. It met all my third party needs, in fact. My PS2 had more 1st party than 3rd party, because I got almost every 3rd party game I wanted from 6th gen on the Gamecube. Wii U is struggling significantly more third party wise, though you can't blame it just on graphics, or install base. It has the biggest next gen install base thus far, and better performance than the PS3/360, even if only just, yet 3rd parties ignore it in favor of both last and next gen competitors. It's a marketing and image issue, not a performance or install base issue.

Wii U the next GC? I am totally okay with this, since the GC is one of my fav consoles.
