Forums - Gaming - Not sure I get the plan with Project C.A.R.S.

I'd bet you a quarter both 4BONE versions outsell the Wii U one by a significant amount. I do understand your point, but I don't think that it is going to make a big difference.

Also you mention it's crowdfunded. Were 4BONE versions stretch goals?

The game will sell better on X1 and PS4 than on WiiU despite the competing franchises. The question is why are they wasting money by developing it for WiiU ;)

They probably see it the same way I see my talk show: there is no Wii U talk show.

The market for Wii U racing sims is zero.  The audience for a Wii U talk show is zero.  Why not create it?  Just because there isn't an existing audience doesn't mean there's zero interest.  The Wii U owners have been some of the MOST outspoken on Project CARS for the Wii U, so I think they're encouraged by this idea.

Though it's no guarantee of success, there's no denying the lack of competition is favorable.

Edit: Typos

And just because there is an existing audience doesn't mean there's zero interest either..

So you're saying the Wii U version will make so much money that the other versions will seem like a waste of resources?

No, I'm saying keeping a lower crowdfund goal and a tighter, focused development will lead to naturally a higher level of quality of each version...

Then the Wii U version would probably be the one that gets dropped, as it's most likely the most difficult port.  Also, having fewer versions by no means directly correlates with a higher level of quality.

I may not be entirely correct on this, but I believe that once their goal was met, they shortly after dropped the XBox360/PS3 versions to do XBox1/PS4 versions.

If the existing audience is satiated, then they have zero interest.  What does Project CARS offer that Gran Turismo and Forza doesn't?

1st party titles would like a word with you about quality.

They never said anything about.

You're talking pure supposition here.  There are plenty of high-quality third-party titles.  Developing for more than one console only takes more time.  If there is enough time, the quality can and should equal that of a single-console game.

Still, I don't get your point. A game should go where its audience is. As I said I bet you that both X1 and PS4 will sell more copies of this game than the WiiU meaning it reaches a wider audience. The question is why should it go to the WiiU? There is a reason why there is no similar experience like that on the WiiU; because it's not profitable due to the target audience being on other systems.

I'm not really sure what.
