Two weeks ago I bought Pokemon X from the eShop, I prefer buying retail over digital but since I'm currently living in Brazil I've bought only digital games, including ALBW (Best game since OoT), SMT4 (Behold my demons), PXZ and now Pokemon). Back in the dat I was a Pokemon fan, but afer GEN 3 I lost interest in the series, maybe because of additions like Nature, Contest, Berries and so on.
I didn't follow every piece of news regarding Pokemon X, but I was aware of the new starters, mega evolution and the chance to get one of the GEN 1 starters, I was going to choose Fennekin, but I absolutely hated its horrible final form, so I ended up with Frookie.
I was somehow exited about the new 3D graphics but I was also worried it will slow down battles, in the end that wasn't a problem at all and there's even an option to disable animations. I loved some camare angles like the one when you first exit your hometown, sadly there arent many parts of the game that used that angle, I think it was a missed oportunity.
Music was ok i guess, there are some great themes like when riding the bike (green bike for me) and the theme of Route 15 (best piece of music in the game). Overall it has good music but some themes could have been better, like when fighting your neightbord, gym leader or Elite 4 (By the way I was dissapointed with the new Pokemon League Champion, I found her boring).
Overall it was a great game, currenly is my second most played 3DS game, second only to Fire Emblem. I spent 17 hours hatching a shiny Trapinch with Adamant Nature (I can't teach him Fire Punch though), tried to catch every new pokemon I encountered and I even cared about EV.
Live in every game, there are some thing that I did not like that much. HMs being the major issue, Why do I have to use a slot for an HM slave? Seriously they should completly remove HMs. Out of the 6 (or 5) HM in the game, only surf is useful I had to wastea slot in Kecleon (my HM slave). Fly is the only one that I can't think in a better way to implement it, because you would need a Pokemon to fly, Surf for example can be replace by a boat or something.
Another thing that I would like to see are other trainers competing from the Champion title, after you beat a gym leader only your name is engraved in the statues. Come on! as you progress there are many trainers capable of beating gym leaders. I would like to see many trainer with the same goal as you and I would also be nice to have the option to begin your adventure in a town or city of your choice.
Also, I would be nice to have new types for startes like ground,steel and ice for example. I guess the issue would be choosing the types since they would problaby have to beat each other like Water->Fire->Grass->Water.
I wasnt fond of the new pokemons either. My team consisted of Flygon, Jolteon, Charizard, Gardevoir, Gengar and Greninja (I want to replace it with Blastoise). I like the sword pokemon but couldn't find the rock to evolve it. Maybe I will try replacing Charizard, Gengar and Gardevoir with GEN 6 Pokemons.
To me, nostalgia played a huge factor in getting the game, but overall it was a great game.
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
