I certainly didn't think "More HD" and smoother framerate. I actually didn't care about HD resolution until 2007. I was really disappointed in the 7th gen's leap to where I almost (well, I though i would but I wasn't even close) gave up on gaming. The Wii is what actually held my interest because it was so unique at the time. Of course, I wound up buying everything.

Anyway, to answer your question: I figured we'd be wearing headsets and everything would be in 3D or something. I was thinking everything would pop off of the screen and we'd have controllers that offered tactile resistance. I'm really disappointed by what we have. Up until the very end, I expected PS4 games to jump out at me but in the end, it was just a sharper image on a screen and the same old stuff I was used to.

Hard to say, because in the beginning of the last gen we were told that all games will be in beatiful HD, and averybody expected it. What we get for real was mostly 720p, with a lot of sub-hd titles. And looking on the start of this generation I can say that beliefs from the start of gen7 will not be fulfilled even in gen8.
