Oh, I'm happy to accept that for people who like FPS games it could well be one of the best FPS's ever made.... but why would that make it suddenly a massive franchise? It's as though people are just presuming that Titanfall gets to stand alongside the like of Call Of Duty, Halo, Battlefield etc. as one of the big FPS games, and I just don't see it. If being an Xbox One exclusive was enough Dead Rising 3 or Ryse would have done better.
My point is, I think people are perpetuating self-fulfilling prophecies. Everyone will buy Titanfall because the hype has told them that everyone will buy Titanfall, so everyone will be playing Titanfall... it's the same issue I have with Call Of Duty. I genuinely have friends who play it, even though they don't like it, because all their friends play it. It's pathetic. If it is just herd mentality pushing this fair enough, but I smell a rat here; it feels underhand. This mentality concerning Titanfall, this assumption that it will be the Xbox One saviour, it's system seller, a game of the year candidate etc. feels bought and paid for by Microsoft. Sure, I'm sure many people will genuinely love it, but I honestly don't expect the game to top 3.5 million sales and I predict companies calling the game a "failure" and a "disappointment" in the coming months; regardless of if the game is any good...
