Forums - Microsoft - What's so great about Titanfall?

1. It's Xbox exclusive
2. Err it's got robots?

I don't know OP, it just looks like COD to me. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't see anything groundbreaking or revolutionary yet there's plenty of people here proclaiming this as "game of the generation". And of course every negative criticism of the game is just shrugged off as bitter Sony fanboys.

Who all said that???

I only remember one person.

Oh, I'm happy to accept that for people who like FPS games it could well be one of the best FPS's ever made.... but why would that make it suddenly a massive franchise? It's as though people are just presuming that Titanfall gets to stand alongside the like of Call Of Duty, Halo, Battlefield etc. as one of the big FPS games, and I just don't see it. If being an Xbox One exclusive was enough Dead Rising 3 or Ryse would have done better.

My point is, I think people are perpetuating self-fulfilling prophecies. Everyone will buy Titanfall because the hype has told them that everyone will buy Titanfall, so everyone will be playing Titanfall... it's the same issue I have with Call Of Duty. I genuinely have friends who play it, even though they don't like it, because all their friends play it. It's pathetic. If it is just herd mentality pushing this fair enough, but I smell a rat here; it feels underhand. This mentality concerning Titanfall, this assumption that it will be the Xbox One saviour, it's system seller, a game of the year candidate etc. feels bought and paid for by Microsoft. Sure, I'm sure many people will genuinely love it, but I honestly don't expect the game to top 3.5 million sales and I predict companies calling the game a "failure" and a "disappointment" in the coming months; regardless of if the game is any good...

It's what I keep seeing. Selnor and J_Allard have been hyping this up to the moon.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I'm not going to get into too much detail about Titanfall because it's overly apparent by your original post that doing so would be a massive waste of time. You hate FPS so anything I list in detail will just be dismissed. But I gotta LOL at the idea that "omg we totally dont need another shooter!" but you're probably ok with another open world game? This isn't a PS4 vs Xbone thing, I am wondering if the thread was instead full of people saying "fuck yeah man infamous is going to be awesom its going to sell more than the other two combined!" and all that other stuff people have said here, would this thread exist only in an alternate Infamous skin? Probably not. Yet I could ask the same thing, what's so special about Infamous? It looks extremely generic and the powers look boring compared to the first game and even the second. The difference in graphics in screens they put out and actual gameplay demos look worlds apart. But I won't make threads about these things, I just chalk it up to difference of opinion.

Now, onto the actual question. I am hyped for it because it looks like shooters redefined. No kill streak rewards, gun on gun action, incredibly tight controls, tried and true twitch gunplay. And the main two reasons, the verticality of the game and the Titans. They are game changers. And oh yeah, the difference between this and The Order/whatever Within, is this game has received virtually nothing but universal praise, has had an alpha trial, and there are tons of real actual gameplay videos out. Not to mention it's only a month away from release, so of course hype will be higher.

For me, I'm a huge Xbox fan, who has no interest in buying Titanfall. The only FPS games I've played is Halo. I will give Killzone a chance and will check up on Borderlands and Bioshock one day, but even I can see that this game's going to be big.

I'll be quite honest from my assessment ONLINE, I've seen far more downplaying than over hyping.

This. I don't frequent many message boards, but here, GAF, and IGN, this whole "its overhyped!!1 :(" stuff is a joke/myth. Most people downplay the shit out of it. It's ok people, we know it won't push 40 million Xbone sales and sell 60 million units.

it's exclusive to the xbox360/one and pc

It's not on a Sony console

It was hyped even when people thought it was multiplat so no.

Coming from a competitive shooter fan, its the gameplay.  Looks unique, and bringing verticality in a game that is similar to CoD mechanics is a pretty big deal. Fast pacing, jumping and unique features, with similar mechanis as CoD's popular shooting mechanics. (MW and MW2 creators).

Not sure what the big deal with all these threads are.  We have a new TitanFall thread about every day from someone who doesnt like or want it.  I dont understand the hype for some games but im not goint to make threads about it.  You either like something or you dont.

because everyone that has played it has said its fun and im talking about the the people that played the alpha not the press who have also said its fun

To me it nothing revolutionary...but with the new element of mechs it kind of bring a fresh flavor to fps. In my honest opinion, the Cod and battlefield games are getting really bland. The game will do well but it's the "savior" that x1 needs right now but not the savior it deserves.

hum no it wasn't

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
