Out of curiosity what happened to the Wii?

Like I mentioned in another post, The Wii quit syncing with the controllers.  I tried swappeing the sensor bar and using different controllers.  It just won't connect to controllers.  I assumed at first that the controller were malfunctioning, but they work fine with the WiiU.

I have to admit, I am not too sad that the Wii died, only that the WiiU hasn't lived up to my expectations so far.  I am only 4 days in, so I will give it some time.

Did you call Nintendo support?

Never thought to do that, as I have had it since Launch.  Do you think there is really something they can do?  I am not going to return the WiiU now either way, as my kids would get upset.  But you do have me curious...

Erm... lets see... you bought a shovelware game and you complain its shovelware. This same game you bought is old and has to go through an update like other consoles do. The situation described is something i went through on several PS3 games.

I mean seriously... try getting God of War ascencion on PS3. Nothing of what you described is never before seen.

Buy a proper game before you go on to judge. Its clear to me your opinion was made before you bought it. Get yourself some better games.

What you are doing is comparable to someone buying an Xbox 360 with kinect adventures and concluding the system is terrible based on that. Or Buying a PS3 with the move and some crappy move game and saying the console is crap.

The console isnt crap, the game is. Try to learn the difference. The system update you made is hardly something worth mentioning has you wont have to do it ever again.

So, Unless someone buys a console and tells you how much fun and how great the games are, they are at fault?  I described a pretty typical experience for someone buying a games console for someone other than themselves.  You seem(like many others in this thread) to have taken it personal that the experience that I have had so far is not the same as yours.  Did I expect there was going to be an update?  Yes, I stated that in the OP.  I was surprised at how long the download took and how it seemed to take an extremely long time to install once downloaded.  Your assumption that every game that someone buys is bought because of a metacritic score, is just a joke.  My kids wanted the game, so I let them get it.  Tough to leave the store with a new system and not pick up a game that they wanted.  I knew it was probably going to be shovelware.  Does that change the fact that it dissapointed me?  No

I am not sure where in any of my posts that I stated that the WiiU is garbage or crap.  What I stated was that if the average consumer has a similar experience to mine, they will not likely recommend the console and not support it with multiple game purchases.  I have only had it for 4 days, so the odds are pretty good that I will continue to purchase many games over the next few years.  Based on the experience so far, I will probably try to rent or borrow games to try them out before buying though.  Funny thing is, my kids think that the Olypics game is great and that the Mario Brothers game is kind of boring.

Ok, simply putting it, you bought a disppointing game and you said the Wii U itself is disappointing. Does that sound like a sensible thing to say to you? Is that how you judge a system?

If you bought the game your kids wanted, why dont you ask them if they are happy with it? Since this game clearly wasnt for you, but it didnt stop you from making a rushed impression of the system and posting it online, when you are perfectly aware of the ammount of unwarranted hate this system gets.

So, tell me. How do you expect people to answer to that? "Oh yes, that was an informed judgement, i totally agree?". Not gonna happen is it?

Yes please call them.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Wow, you bought the Mario and Sonic game and you're complaining? You should have known better. That is not something to judge the Wii U off of, it's one of the biggest pieces of shit the system has and most people know that. I don't place too much stock in Metacritic, but when a game gets a score that's barely in the 50s, you know something is wrong. Consider getting Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo Land, and Wonderful 101. Rayman Legends, Nintendo Land and 3D World will be the best uses of the gamepad, while Pikmin 3 is overall a nice experience that makes good of the Wii Motion Plus. 3D World has some great co-op, as does Nintendo Land. Donkey Kong will be a great experience, though I hear it doesn't bother using two screens. Nintendo Land is the best overall multiplayer experience/party game right now. 3D World has the best co-op experience. There are a number of fantastic single player experiences, I couldn't choose one. I guess if you haven't played Wind Waker on Gamecube, the Wii U HD version is a good place to start. It's a good example of what the gamepad can do for single player.

Wow, even the trailer for the first one looks better. It's hard to believe it's from a 4 year old game while the second one just came out recently.

What is it that you are defending, The Mario Olympics game or your personal honor?

You seem dissapointed that someone judged a product after purchasing it and spending 6-7 hours of time with it.  My kids have probably spent 30+ hours with it.  They like it/Love it, as it does everything the Wii did that they liked and has even more capabilities with the tablet.

You should go work for Nintendo, as they are clearly looking for more Yes men to tell them that the product has no problems and its the best.  I am only telling it like it is from my perspective.  It is important to be forthcoming when talking about a product that you purchased, as it makes it easier to accept the shortcomings and move on.  Through this thread, I have recieved numerous suggestions for games and some to seek tech support from Nintendo.  I would say that discussing my experience so far has been helpful to me.  Too bad you seem to think that this is all about how the world "should" post when talking about Nintendo's products.

He's pointing out that you bought shovelware, expressed your dissapointment in said shovelware, then proceeded to judge the Wii U based off of said shovelware. He's defending the Wii U and your extremely poor judgement of it based off of one game that is notorious for being shovelware. What you are doing basically is called having an uninformed opinion.

Either way, it doesn't matter what games I played on the system.  I based my opinion on the games that I have played.  If as many in this thread have stated, metacritic is a bunch of opinions based on a more than likely short period of time.

If you want every opinion to be based soley on the perfect game or perfect this or that, then the system is a fail on that fact alone.  I will continue to play other games and maybe my opinion will change.  We will have to wait and see.

No. Super Mario Bros U was great. A solid 9/10. You know however that to judge a system by 2 games really shows your ignorance as a gamer and honestly, shows you have an uninformed opinion that no one should take seriously.

Edit: I just realized that when I said shovelware, you automatically assumed I was talking about NSMBU and not Mario & Sonic. You consider NSMBU more shovelware than M&S? Okay. Now I know what type of consumer you are.
