Im not saying its still 7th gen, im just saying the number you give it doesnt change the fact that its still an active product.

It is still an active product, yes. I just meant it's no longer a runner in the 7th gen race, because that race has concluded.

Still dont see why another race started in another stadium should affect an ongoing race with obviously different competitors.

Because PS3/360/Wii are now last gen. Last as in last year, last month, last week.

PS4, X1 and wii U are also last month, last week. So what?

They still all sell TODAY.

But they are current gen. 360/PS3/Wii are last gen.

doesnt matter how you classify the products, they still have a current active market.

But their generation is over. Hence "last gen".

last gen doesnt mean its over.

If you go into an electronics shop, over half the items will be 'last gen'.

Just because they're still selling, doesn't mean the generation isn't over.

how can that be?

Because a generation is the period of time in which a set of consoles are  primary/lead systems. The 7th gen began with the launch of the 360 in 2005, and ended once all 3 were replaced in late 2013.

well thats the first time ive herd the words 'lead system' mentioned in a definition of a generation.

Anyway, how would you explain all the countries where X1 and PS4 havent been released yet?

PS4 and Xbone are out. They don't have to be out everywhere to be the new current generation of systems.

wow... ok.

any more new characteristics you would like to add to your home made definition of 'generation'?
