Forums - Microsoft - Torn on my first Xbone game

So I get paid the day before Valentines Day and have a nice quarterly bonus attached. I was going to wait and buy an Xbone when Titanfall comes out, but since the beta starts the next day, I am going to buy one then. But I really can't decide on my first game.

Calls of Duty - Does anyone have any experience on both the PS3 AND Xbone version? I own the game on PS3 and it's terrible. The latency blows, the picture is dark, the colors are shit. A better looking version with brighter picture quality and smoother online might be worth the money to me. Plus I could instantly buy the Extinction DLC instead of waiting a month on PS3 like a 2nd class citizen.

Battlefield 4 - I am pretty much ignoring this as I have heard nothing but terrible things about it. Another reason I am hesitant for this and CoD is why buy these when the GOTG is launching in like 6 weeks and is also a shooter? That's like buying some wagyu filets to make the greatest burgers ever, but then stopping at McDonalds on the way home for a McDouble.

Ass Creed IV - I have to admit I enjoy the AC games when I play them, but I cannot wrap my head around the story. I haven't really tried to understand it much, but it just seems so shitty and stupid. I can normally play a game with a bad story if it has good gameplay (and vice versa), but this is the rare occasion where the story is just sooo WTF that I can't play the game. But is it really good? It will probably pack a lot of content, which is a plus for me.

Ryse -  Which is the opposite of Ryse. The game looks incredible, easily the best looking console game I have ever seen, but is there enough meat on the bone to warrant $60? I am wondering if the online co-op is any good and very replayable. This is my 2nd choice.

Dead Rising 3 - This is currently my #1 choice. But I kind of burned out on zombie games last year with State of Decay, Last of Us, and How to Survive. I don't care about people bitching about graphics or frame rate, is the gameplay good? State of Decay would be pretty boring imho if there wasn't the ever present risk of permadeath, and the constant managing of supplies and your characters well being. DR3 has none of those. I might go ahead and buy this and Ryse.

What about downloadable titles? Peggle 2 is obviously a must have. Is Crimson Dragon really that bad? I am not going to bother with Fighter or Lococycle. Max looks interesting. How about Powerstar Golf? I hear such jarring opinions about the game. Some think it's incredible, others no.

Thanks for reading.

You didn't wait for the Titanfall bundle? You were patient all this time...

I say go with Dead Rising, it should keep you busy longer and Titanfall should satisfy your shooter needs.

I can play a good shooter for years. See: SOCOM, COD4. Plus it will be 3 years before TF2 is out.

I would wait for the bundle if they weren't unleashing the greatest beta ever on the 14th.

I'll narrow your choices down to Assassins Creed IV and Dead Rising 3, also Battlefield 4 is a broken turd.

Yeah that's what I hear regarding BF4. EA really needs the 3 year rotation on these shooters they are promising.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

well I agree with somini (which is rare enough to be pointed out YAYA after all we are a big happy family ;P )

for gaming time to price ratio ass creed IV is usually a good value if you are somewhat a completionist and liked the other games.... I heard this one is pretty good in the serie... I haven't finished the last one yet.... but I think I will get it once I'm done with the other... even though I'm considering liberation first so I dunno.... I really like the serie.... ( I read all the crap they put in the animus data base, I feel like I learn something while playing with that game)

You should just get your Xbox and then invest in some Gamefly. Rent Ryse and Dead Rising 3 and play until Titanfall comes out.

Ryse is AWESOME. I completed the game and frankly it was like watching a very good movie.
Yes the gameplay is not that hot, but the graphics and even the story are very good. You should go with that imo.

Then you'll have plenty of fun with Titanfall in marsh :)

If you only want to buy one for starters, and you have some friends to play co-op with, I definitely recommend DR3. It's insanely fun, with tons of crazy combo weapons to discover and really doesn't get old.

Ryse is great (imo), but if you're only getting one game, I don't recommend it, because while it's tons of fun for say 3 hours at a time, you will need a change of pace from it now and again before going back to it.

ACIV, if you're an AC fan, and you enjoyed Naval in AC3, is a solid choice. It's not the prettiest game, or the most insanely fun....but it's solid good fun, has lots of content (as you said), and therefore would keep you busy for a while. It's a great pirate game really. Just not a next Gen game to write home about.

I'm not a fan of Zombies much either, but DR3 is a total blast. I'd say that's your best pick
