Forums - Sony - Sony: “We Don’t Think the Vita’s Going to Sell as Well as PSP,” Unless There’s a Pleasant Surprise

Oh?  What game was that?   Because Tearaway was a short game made by a small team with an unappealing kiddy image to a lot of gamers and Killzone Mercenary was a terribly gimped Killzone game irrelevant to its universe.

Bro, you need to play Tearaway. As a community, we have been b!tching and whinning (well most of us) about not having any new & innovative IPs to play and is always getting sequels and rehash from the devs and pubs. Well Tearaway is one of those rare new & innovative games that can actually put a big smile on your face.

Sony: Oh, ya think?!

They are expecting a surprise? I think THEY should make the surprise, not wait for it.

It's clear it will never reache PSP sales. Heck even 25 million seems like a hard goal for it.

lol i was thinking the same thing XD

Sony needs to lead the way on the PSV.

Screen experience?!? What the fuck does that mean. It is focuses like that, that go along way to illustrate why Vita never had a chance.

Way to hate, man.

Who needs games when they have they big, beautiful, sexy screen to stare at and fondle and EXPERIENCE?

Why not both?

No shit Sherlock. Did he got his diploma before being a higher up? A normal person couldn't had guessed.

The surprise for this would be 60M drunk impulsive buy.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I'm annoyed at that. All they are doing is admiting defeat without even trying.

Support the Vita the way Nintendo supported the 3DS last year and you got a sucess instead of a mediocre performance.
Put on it Gran Turismo, God of War, Legend of Dragoon 2, a side story of The last of us and a new Uncharted and tada... your failure becomes a sucess. But, you dont want to take that risk. Very well... i will live with ever increasing in quality indie games and japanese localisation, but the damage done to the Playstation brand in my eyes will not go away.
I wont be purchasing a Playstation product so easily anymore, unless i see some commitment for the Vita.

Yeah, I am sure the reason why Tearaway bombed was people thinking it is made by a small team so why would they buy it. Unappealing kiddy image is also really hurt Nintendo last gen.

This. Seriously, this. As if people know or care about these things... Seriously, how can some people (I'm speaking in general) be so out of touch with reality?! People outside of v.g. forums have no idea about the size of developing teams, or which these developing teams are and i'm sure their decision to whether it's worth buying a game is not influenced by their knowledge that the developer won't supoort it with dlc (excuse I heard about some WiiU games underperforming/flopping).

Though in all fairness, since the release of the ps3 and the vita, apart from Little Big Planet, I think Sony never managed to appeal to the kiddie audience.
