I applaud them putting out a game when its READY and not for the sole purpose of moving consoles. Most of the people on this thread either have a WIi U or will get one soon so i dont see what a couple of weeks wait will hurt. I personally dont want a MK7 scenario again so kudos to them.

I completely agree with this. A few more months of development will add years of replayability and will most certainly be worth it.

Until Nintendo is ready to develop HD games at full speed, this is the ideal approach. Rather than each Nintendo series having a "Perfect Dark Zero" entry.

Only Nintendo can upset people by not releasing every 1 or 2 months..

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Not sure some are getting so upset since this still falls in the Spring 2014 that was said at it's original announcement, but anywhos, after they rushed out MK7, I hope they take as much time as they need on this game!

have you ever considered maybe this is the EARLIEST the can get the game out without its sucking? THey just cant snap their fingers and will stuff to come out sooner. Thats not how it works in reality.

They've had YEARS to make it; it's the team whose last game was MK7 in 2011. If the earliest they can provide it is May 2014, that speaks even more to their stupidity.

dude that released at the end of 2011. its 2014. I dont think 2 and a half years is crazy. And thats kind or a normal dev cycle, especially considering they had to word on totally different hardware.

Sigh,. What are WiiU owners going to play in March and April then? Lego? Spiderman?  I thought the drought was supposed to end... Yeah sure...

when you are barely getting 3rd party support, there WILL be droughts. I think people need to accept that.

We need to accept that at E3 2014 there won't be again a traditional conference as SSB looks like to be the game to talk. If Wii U is lucky, Bayo2 and X will come before holidays and Smash for christmas. Hyrule Warriors can be delayed to 2015 and Zelda U... well. I'm crying.

I'm prepared to bet that at least one of the X/Bayo 2/Yarn Yoshi trio gets delayed to 2015.

And I'm prepared to state that I think they KNOW they can't afford that kind of shit. All three of those games will see 2014 release, as will the third unnamed Sonic game, as will, likely, 2-3 other games we have not yet heard about, as will Hyrule Warriors. They know they need to get as many games out on this platform as possible, and they know they need to advertise the fuck out of it as well. I'm just as disappointed that MK8 isn't coming out AT LEAST in April also. I was personally hoping for March.

BUT, I will say this. We've all seen the pics and footage of this Mario Kart. This isn't Mario Kart Wii or Mario Kart 7. The reaction to those games when they were revealed was positive, like "Oh cool". But it wasn't "OH SHIT". MK8's reveal garnered an "OH SHIT" from a lot of people, myself included. It isn't just the graphics, though that is one key factor. It's obvious they're actually taking advantage of that hardware this time around. MK has had the same basica graphical look from MKDD, to MK Wii, to MK7. They haven't tried all that hard to really change the look or TRY To have a Mario Kart that takes advantage of a system's graphical power since, as much as I hate the game, Double Dash. This is the first MK since DD to actually look like a big LEAP, and not just another step, for the MK series.

The graphics (and those were unfinished demo graphics even) look superb, and the track designs look BIG, and fresh, and new, and inventive. It looks like they're really going all out for this game, and the hope would be that the amount of on-disc (blu ray capacity mind you) content will also reflect that. Point being, if we're LUCKY, MK8 will be the closest thing we've gotten to an "Ultimate Mario Kart" since MK64. So maybe THAT is "what's taking them so long".

Of course they do need at least one other game for March/April. DKCR2 is gonna be great, but they STILL need to provide something else to keep that momentum moving before MK8 comes out. And hopefully we'll get an ND video soon to tell us just WHAT that might be, and get some other release dates besides, so that people can quit flipping out and have a clearer picture of what 2014 (outside of obligatory E3 surprises) is going to look like.

With MK7 they enlisted the help of other studios to get it done; they should have done the same for MK8 the mmoment they realized they would be leaving a 3 onth gap between that and DK. (Of course, if we do end up getting Wach Dogs , Luigi's Mansion HD, or some other significant title in March/April, I'l happily admit I was wrong)

I must be insane. Nintendo keeps doing the same things and I keep expecting different results. As for the drought, I will be getting a Ps4 in March for Infamous Second Son. My hands are tied...

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."
