Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Well..............I certainly wouldn't call myself a "fanboy". I believe there is a distinct difference between being a fan and fanboy, one being positive and the other quite negative. A fan of something has an abiding love and passion for a specific thing. A fanboy professes blind love for that said thing, but also tends to exhibit behavior that not only says otherwise, but also uses it (in this internet age of ours) as an excuse to blindly hate against anything else not said specific thing. So yeah, being a "fanboy" is not a good thing.

As for why I'm a FAN of Nintendo? Well, my first gaming experiences were Pac-Man and Dig Dug in the arcade at a very young age, followed by a Tandy home computer that actually played games through a tape-deck, and a hand-me-down Atari 2600 from a cousin. I always liked video games. I loved Pac-Man as a tiny kid, even though I was no good at it. Same with a game I loved on 2600 called "Astroblast". But I didn't FALL IN LOVE with gaming, until I got an NES around age 8. Super Mario Bros. was my first gaming crush, which was then quickly taken over by Super Mario Bros. 3, which to this day is my favorite game. I love the NES because to me, it was the best console of all time. No, obviously it's not the most powerful (that goes without saying). And a system like the SNES or PS1 obviously had it better with certain genres like rpgs. But NES had everything, and it was the unconquered king of platformers and action games.

So many great games and franchises either saw their start or first got popular on the NES, including Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Kirby, Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Punch Out, TMNT, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Ikari Warriors, R-Type, Bomberman, Adventure Island, Gradius, Tetris, RC Pro Am, Battletoads, Bionic Commando, Rygar, etc. etc. etc.

Ultimately, I love the NES because to me, it was the king of consoles. When I play NES/8-bit games, to me, THAT feels like gaming. And as for why I still love Nintendo? Because over the years, while things have obviously changed, they still make the type of games that interest me and that I enjoy playing. They're just about the only old school game developer I used to love that still actually puts out games I want to play.

sorry.  you should have read the fine print.   ..by posting in this thread you've accepted the terms and conditions of being labled a fanboy.

on a serious note: i'm surprised no one is voting for "it was my first".   i figured more people would be fans of the first company they bought into.  to me nintendo was always >>>> sega even though i had never played a sega game until on ps3.  i didn't need to play because my heart was already invested in nintendo.

Because of Crash Bandicoot the third.

I'm not.

I've owned consoles from all the different manufacturers.

I buy the best products for my needs with no stupid loyalty to get in my way.

MFC --> my favorite company

Being born in '82 Atari was basically dead by the time i was mentally competent enough to pick up a controller.   So with nintendo being the prettiest girl in the whole wide room that's where i started to game.  My relationship with nintendo was only so-so over the NES era but the relationship really blossomed in the snes era.  I became infatuated and soon could dream of spending my time with anyone else.  Like any long term relationship there were rough patches (N64, GC) but things turned to shit when i found out nintendo was having a casual relationship on the side.

My heart, now cold and bitter, turned to sony.  don't get me wrong, sony has been a good and loyal companion but after your heart has been broken so completely it's hard to ever truely "love" again.  now-a-days i'm really just in it to hurt others as much as i've been hurt.   nothing makes me feel better about myself than knowing i've made someone cry.   it feels even better than sex.   well,.. maybe not better than sex.  but those are definetly my top two favorite things in the world: sex and making people cry.   i wonder if that's why i find rape jokes so funny.

so that's my story.  Why are you such a fanboy?

*Plot twist*  Nintendo made it a casual relationship b/c you got caught with your d in sony!

I'm a fanboy b/c i watched Dreamcast die to thunderous applause.  And i can hear the applause growing once again.  I'm vengeful when i'm hurt... you'll all pay!

Because after having a PS1 and N64, a PS2, Xbox, and Dreamcast, and a PS3 and 360, and every time, the PS console gave me the most enjoyment of that generation.....well, you see where this is going

My dad bought a SNES for my sister (which I used as well), then my dad bought a N64, then he bought a GC. He also bought a PS1 at some point (which I only used to play Crash and an Hercules game). Prior to the Wii I relay on what my dad bought me, I always liked Nintendo games, so he kept buying them. The previous gen was when I started to play different consoles (although other than Nintendo mainly is just PC).
