Historically, lack of free time or money (only a few instances in the last 15 years i've been gaming that i've had an abundance of both) and a strong preference for Nintendo's games meaning that they largely dominate my play schedule, or if not, other games on their systems (the pattern was only broken by Khuutra in 2012 when he forced me to get Steam and gave me KOTOR and later KOTOR II, still my only Steam games)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
when i was a kid always played Genesis and SNES equally(not much) and didnt have a brand that i liked most. i was mostly a ARCADE and PC gamer. and i had a Game boy of course.
when all 3 consoles(N64, Saturn and PSx) were in the market by holiday 1996 i had to choose. at first i was interested in PSx the most, but looking at the catalogue i didnt find any game i thought i must have.i liked Porsche challenge and Resident evil but that was it, i wasnt a Ridge racer fan and Tekken was fairly lackluster compared to Tekken 2 that i was playing at the ARCADES.
Then suddenly when i was about buying PSx just because Saturn was crap (sorry), a couple of friends that were diehard Nintendo fans said they were buying N64, they told me that was way more powerful and cheaper also. and i bught N64.
I didnt know what to expect really. I was blown away. Having played Psx games and way more advanced games on the ARCADES and PC for years, the experience i got from Mario 64, ISS 64, Wave race, Goldeneye, Banjo kazooie...etc. blew me away so much that i decided to stick with Nintendo for the next generation with the GC....
and it didnt dissapoint!!! not at all. RE games, Metroid Prime games, F-Zero, Mario and Zelda reinvented and a fair share of multiplats did it so well for me with GC that i didnt feel the need to buy a PS2.
Then Wii came and everybody bought it. Loved it too. Lots of good original games, plus many games that wouldnt have seen the light on GC otherwise were ported to Wii successfully which was a bonus (Manhunt2, Bully, Scarface, The Godfather, Fatal frame 2, Obscure 2...).
Im a happy and proud Nintendo user that doesnt feel the need of buying any other console since Nintendo provides me my ultimate entertainment.
Ive been a Nintendo + PC gamer all this years and it works for me so well that i dont even think on ever buying other consoles.
PD: The first game i played was a game for the Amstrad that i dont remember which was it. i remember it was a movie Licensed game. Indiana, Batman...i cant remember honestly. Then Mario bros.
My first PC game was Transport Tycoon which was awesome.

omg, those tears taste sooooo good.
I started out with the Atari. I still don't know what possessed my father to bring one home. He was a hard man, a workaholic, he had no interest in any kind of "entertainment". The twitch gameplay was fun, though rarely deep.
From there, it was Nintendo's turn at bat. I saved up Christmas and birthday money and bought an NES. I had a lot of fun with that. Then I discovered Final Fantasy (1), which was awesome but also kind of sad. I couldn't find anything else like it. Next was the SNES, I traded some skate board parts to a rich kid for the console and a few games. Though I loved Zelda, I kind of got bored with the lack of variety. Somehow, it didn't really thrill me like the NES had. I started drifting away from gaming--that is, until I ran across Final Fantasy 3 (VI). I was amazed. As before, however, the lack of other games like it ended up making me unhappy.
I flirted briefly with PC until the release of Final Fantasy VII was announced. With a heavy heart, I turned my back on Nintendo and bought a PS1. However, in the back of my mind was the idea that Nintendo would win me back. I was a reluctant Playstation owner.
But then came Suikoden. Then came Final Fantasy Tactics. Then Breath of Fire 3, Lunar SS, Star Ocean, Xenogears. MORE Final Fantasy. Gran Turismo. This was, to me, a Gamer's Romance and a great time, the best time, to have a controller in my hands. Before, I was just someone who played games to kill time--thanks to the PS1, I had leveled up and become a Gaming Enthusiast.
Nintendo, what was this? Had you been holding out on me? These amazing, breathtaking games, why did you not offer them to be before? Sony, what magic was this? You brought these things to me. May I hold your hand?

Well..............I certainly wouldn't call myself a "fanboy". I believe there is a distinct difference between being a fan and fanboy, one being positive and the other quite negative. A fan of something has an abiding love and passion for a specific thing. A fanboy professes blind love for that said thing, but also tends to exhibit behavior that not only says otherwise, but also uses it (in this internet age of ours) as an excuse to blindly hate against anything else not said specific thing. So yeah, being a "fanboy" is not a good thing.
As for why I'm a FAN of Nintendo? Well, my first gaming experiences were Pac-Man and Dig Dug in the arcade at a very young age, followed by a Tandy home computer that actually played games through a tape-deck, and a hand-me-down Atari 2600 from a cousin. I always liked video games. I loved Pac-Man as a tiny kid, even though I was no good at it. Same with a game I loved on 2600 called "Astroblast". But I didn't FALL IN LOVE with gaming, until I got an NES around age 8. Super Mario Bros. was my first gaming crush, which was then quickly taken over by Super Mario Bros. 3, which to this day is my favorite game. I love the NES because to me, it was the best console of all time. No, obviously it's not the most powerful (that goes without saying). And a system like the SNES or PS1 obviously had it better with certain genres like rpgs. But NES had everything, and it was the unconquered king of platformers and action games.
So many great games and franchises either saw their start or first got popular on the NES, including Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Kirby, Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Punch Out, TMNT, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Ikari Warriors, R-Type, Bomberman, Adventure Island, Gradius, Tetris, RC Pro Am, Battletoads, Bionic Commando, Rygar, etc. etc. etc.
Ultimately, I love the NES because to me, it was the king of consoles. When I play NES/8-bit games, to me, THAT feels like gaming. And as for why I still love Nintendo? Because over the years, while things have obviously changed, they still make the type of games that interest me and that I enjoy playing. They're just about the only old school game developer I used to love that still actually puts out games I want to play.

yeah, i hear that. for me its time not money but multiconsole ownership is overrated.

Well, enjoy them as much as you want, because they are the only tears you are getting, young man.
