guess this could add some fire to the whole nintendo/sony doomed speculation.

it really doesn´t / couldn´t

aw someone got his hope up for Sony being less dUmm3d than Nintendo :P

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Title is misleading; it's not owned by Nintendo. This is the Renesas factory that was going to close (see article) due to low Wii U sales not covering its running costs.

The Sony deal will allow it to keep producing the Wii U component. Nintendo would otherwise have been forced to pay Renesas more to keep it open, since it can't be readily sourced from elsewhere.

Sony fanboys always blaming Nintendo for inferior Hardwarechips is no longer possible since Sony started producing them.

But Sony state is "Junk".

Well, actually it is :P.

OT: hopefully they won´t have to sell it within a year :).

So even Nintendo didn't find it worth buying. Another great investment by Sony.

Why would you know why Sony bought a Renesas plant? Obviously someone at Sony has a plan you don't see. The fact that Renesas has the technology to make the WiiU's 40nm edram (amongst a lot of other non-Nintendo (v)lsi stuff) is a side effect. I'm pretty sure Nintendo has it in the contracts that solves the edram (not ram) problem should the plant get into new ownership..

Sony, as a general electronics company, will have other things worth producing there.

Ha! great point

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
