Forums - Gaming - [Poll] Is your tv 1080p or 1080i?

Which is it?

1080p 342 89.30%

1080i 39 10.18%

Total:381

I've got quite few tv's spread about the house. 2 42" LCD's and 2 42" plasma's plus a projector.

Here is my oldest plasma. A Hitachi with a motorised stand which I use for knocking the cat out of the way if he decides to sit in front of the tv looking for attention. Resolution is 1024x1024 interlace using an alis panel.

I also have a Panasonic PX80 plasma.

A passive 3D tv

For retro charm I also have one of these;

Many plasma's are only 720p. They can display 1080i and 1080p downscaled but their true resolution is often only 1024x768. My PX80 has that resolution.

Are there any true 1080i flat panel displays? That is a display that gives a true 1920x1080 resolution in interlace. I've never seen one. Yes a 1080p tv will de-interlace a 1080i signal and display it as 1080p but then that is a 1080p display.

I think if you are listing resolutions it should be;

1080p
1080i (crt based hd displays)
720p
480p
576i
480i

I actually have a mini-imax 3d projector setup for gaming and movies. It's a 720p 3D projector on a 70inch projector screen. It's ungodly huge, love it :)

I chose a 720p projector because about 90% of the stuff I watch and play is still in 720 native.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.
