IGN - they get good exclusives and have some entertaining ppl working there, but hell are they as dumb as patrick the starfish.

Firstly they dont point out that the event is 2 hours. Do they really think it takes 2 hours to announce a ps vita model.
The PS Vita also is not called the Ps Vita Slim. Yes it is slimmer than the vita 1000, but it is called the vita-2000.
In igns article (Dont wanna link to give them views) they consistently call the vita as the vita slim.
Yet from  acouple months ago they refer to it as vita-2000, and from a ctrl-f of multiple pages, i didnt find any slim word except when it says something along the line of 'the vita 2000 is 20% slimmer than...' etc. etc.

The PS Vita PCH-2000 is the latest Vita model announced from Sony. It was debuted on September 8th, 2013, a few days before the Tokyo Game Show.[1] The new model is 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the standard Vita model, and is more “affordable,” packing a 5” LCD display in lieu of an OLED screen. Battery life has been increased by an hour, as well. The new models are also slated to come in different colors. They will feature 1 GB of internal storage.

Ok so it may be me being fussy but I see it more likely as being the vita TV. That is the slimmest PlayStation device to date, I believe, the extra time will probably be for them to announce a couple big games, and a few indies.
I highly doubt sony would introduce a new model vita in the US, when the current model being a couple of eyars old is selling 5k a week average.
They are calling it the slimmest launch, so I think they are planning to essentially 'relaunch' the vita in western markets. 

Remember, the PS4 event was 2 hours, and that revealed not only hardware but also tons of software.

PS3 slims were generally just sold as PS3s technically.

They are clearly going to announce the PS Vita Slim even if it technically isn't called the Slim. But if it is 2 hours, then hopefully we will get some new software too

I think they´ll announce the Vita TV (since it´s the smallest, hence slimmest PS released) and demonstrate it´s "potencial" with the streaming service PS Now. The Vita 2000 may also be announced too, along with some new games hopefully :P.

Since when PSP-2000 was called PSP Slim? No wait...

I was thinking that this announcement might have to do with Playstation Now since it's not physical, and thus would be the "slimmest" launch ever. 

I never thought about ps tv though, good point. That device could be a huge vehicle for getting ps now into homes (if it pretty cheap and maybe changes it's name)

Vita heaven with PSTV and 2000 series announcements and big unveiling of Q3/Q4 Vita software could do it.

The 2 hours aspect would more likely be 30 minutes - 1 hour of actual unveiling/talking over breakfast, and then time to try the newly unveiled products and new games.

There is the J-RPG stuff they hyped last year that we're awaiting announcements for, Infamous was rumoured, we've seen nothing of Borderlands 2, God of War Collection, there is NOTHING currently confirmed from Sony for release this year apart from Invizimals in the west.

Shahid confirmed news soon, but not this week, may have tied in with this too.

Could be the relaunch I was hoping/expecting them to do last year. Would also explain why so much 3rd party software is clogging up the Feb/March release schedules in the West.

I still like the thought ofa new PS3 together with a price cut, even if it's ver unlikely. But I really wanna have a full blown PS3 with the same size as the good old PS2 Slim...

Remember the original PS2 then it's slim? :x! Anyways it's far too early for a PS4 slim so i'd take it as some Vita hardware change and maybe software for both consoles.
