Seems I'm a hipster since I don't have it and don't plan to get it actually, but it's selling power is undeniable.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!

this game has the best graphics in gaming. of course it will sell lots.

Xbox 360 may have sold more, but Microsoft made less of a profit on it because they paid for exclusivity, so for ps3 to sell 1 million copies 1 and a half years after 360 edition and zonks years after huge popularity of pc edition, it is very impressive.

People enjoying doing nothing for some reason.
GTA for example. I don't enjoy the game after all the story and side missions are completed, yet there are people who will play the games for hours on end without even messing with the story.
That recent five most overrated games last gen. Minecraft was number one.

I'm not too sure MS cares that much about the money paid for the exclusivity since they were able to sell 10 million on 360.
Congratulations for Minecraft! Never got into it. Just so... eh, idk played it and didnt like it. Not my type of game

OT: I never imagined the game could be so successful across so many platforms. Have there been any expansion packs released, or is new content simply added? I wonder if this type of game could become a successful long-term franchise. Given that so many tools are handed to the player, the game itself is virtually complete with only one installment. It creates a kind of LBP situation, where after the original, everything that follows must be radically different- either visually or creatively to justify a sequel. |
Once you buy the game, you get all updates for free, for however long they keep making them. The game is technically out now, but it's recieved lots of updates with a ton of new content since the actual release (more including beta/alpha/infdev). They're releasing weekly snapshots for the next update as well, and I feel confident in saying that we will see at least a few more updates (and probably a lot more), because they're working on a modding API to help modders and modding in general.
I'm surprised by the number of people in this thread who don't want to try or don't like the game, though. With the number of mods out there, you can do all kinds of crazy things with the game, and even the vanilla game keeps getting more stuff to do. Definitely better with friends, though.
