Good Lord some of you will reach great heights to find something to bitch about regarding MS LOL.

It's really not hard to find something to bitch about when it comes to Microsoft. There's a new controversy every week.

When something like shipped vs sold is a "contraversy" you know you are reaching :)

?? It was clear he was talking to non technical people, when asked if it actually was shipped or sold he never tried to explain the difference, it was clear he tried to pass it off as we sold all of that to consumer. If he was being honest he w=ould have elaborated on shipped to retail.A gree to disagree. He knew his audience.

In a 140 character tweet? You are really stretching things here.

Like I say I don't really like Greenberg and have fallen out with him in the past but you are just being idiotic here.

  • He never mentioned the word sold. Someone said congrats on 3.9m and he said thanks. Then some random guy sends an unnecessarily angry Tweet saying "SHIPPED not SOLD". He never even mentioned the world sold, he didn't even bring it up to be honest.
  • The word sold is used in their financial reports.
  • He explains, calmly and reasonably to the disgruntled Tweeter, that actually "sold" is the correct term - which it is. In a financial sense (which is where the 3.9m came from) then sold is the correct term as Microsoft has sold that many units to their customers (which are the retailers). Again, Greenberg never mentioned the word sold in the first place so the guy who started attacking him clearly knew exactly what he was talking about and he was the one that bought the word sold into the conversation.

Shane Stocks understand the situation perfectly, he is the one making the point and bringing it up in the first place. Don't make out that he is some non-techincal person that Greenberg is trying to mislead because that isn't what happened at all!

Agree to disagree, he knew he was talking to people that had zero clue that when he said SOLD he meant to retailer. he made no attempt to clarify even when pressed, clear to me he was being dis-ingenius. He knew what he was doing...............

Then his theatre analogy, pure spin.

Greenberg is right the doofus on Twitter is wrong. Sometimes even if you think a corporate shill is mostly a dick you have to admit they're right when they're right. People here get confused by what "sold" means in different contexts so even Greenberg's patronising comment is right.

Okay listen, I am the guy who asked him (@shane_stocks) and some of you believe it is me who is misinformed rather than Aaron who was spinning.

Let me tell you now, Aaron spinned me big time and thought he would get away with it. There are two types of figures, SHIPPED and SOLD. Every single time a company releases information, it would either say "sold to retailers, shipped, or sold to customer", not just sold.

He is clearly trying to make out publicly that Microsoft has sold "3.9M" consoles, which in a sense is true, to retailers. But he is mis-directing in the purpose of spreading the figure 3.9M SOLD. No, in my world and in everyone elses since these spreadsheets and financial figures began, it is either SOLD THROUGH RETAILER or SOLD TO CUSTOMER.

Look at the COD: Ghosts figure when it was first released. It was clearly marked TO RETAILERS. Look at Microsoft's own god damn quarter report, it clearly states "3.9M to retailers".

At a time where "Major Nelson" asks "STOP THE HATE", the chief of Xbox comes out and shows to be the ultimate fanboy.

He categorically did not make it clear to me which he meant, in the means of getting the figure 3.9m SOLD out, which we all know is to retailers only, which means absolutely nothing. What matters is the number sold to customers.

No, there is no agree to disagree. You are just plain wrong on this.

The guy he was speaking to knew exactly what he was talking about as he is the one that BROUGHT IT UP. Greenberg never mentioned sold, THE OTHER GUY DID.

The only reason you are seeing it a certain way is because your point of view is twisted out of shape so much and you seem to have lost grasp of any kind of logic or reasoning!

There is no way there is a flat right/wrong, only greenberg knows what his intention was.  I never said greenberg brought it up, but he sure never explained it properly just gave a vague it's sold..ok, to someone who doesn;t understand there is even a  difference... Like most of his twitter followers..

Should be... but if some common folks are protected from ban, I don't think anyone would dare ban the onwer.
