Forums - Gaming - Tomb Raider Definitive Edition runs at 60 FPS on PS4 (Xbone - 30FPS)

Same game, same graphics, a (rumored, not confirmed) minor difference in framerate (again, Eat says it goes up to 45 on XBO amd into the 50's on PS4).

Yep, a whole 1% of people will notice this huge difference...the average person at Wal Mart will think these games are IDENTICAL.

I also just realized SE is releasing a "Game of the Year" edition for the 360/PS3 on the same day for half the price... plus the original is like $20. PS4 will obviously do better than the One in sales for, but they are really not helping to push that next gen version for either console.

Thats great but can they please have an option to put the old model back? Really like her more

Oh I just noticed they changed her. What gives?

At least from screens I definitely preferred the one that's int the last gen version.

You have the PS4 as well, right? May I ask why did you buy it? Or at least why at launch?

I buy all the consoles, so it was never a matter of why, but when. I planned on buying it in May, but I had the money and I knew with its demand there was no way in hell it was getting price dropped by May, so I just went for it. I still don't have any games for it now, but I plan on using it for the exclusives. Infamous looks absolultely incredible, so I get to play that even sooner. I also want to check out Knack and Killzone.

But why would you buy the inferior version when you could buy the better version? I can fully understand why people would buy it if they only owned an X1 but to me this doesn't make sense.

The PS5 Exists.

lol we're barely 2 months in and the difference is this visible already!

Just because some fools won't see it doesn't mean it's not there. You and me know and that's what matters as you are talking to me about it.

Obviously this will render the game unplayable the way this thread is going.
You won't even have fun with it. Game can't hit 1080 or 60fps equals the game being shit.

Dat salt..not 1 person said that..... You sound defensive.

You seriously saying that? You? Ironic. It is also obvious you are still very sick. The way some are acting is what i wrote(meant). Not what someone said.

so how big is the performance gap now? lol

Have X1 fans denied the PS4 is more powerful? We've already seen several games that have higher resolutions on PS4.

You shouldnt lump all X1 fans into one.

But there are a lot of posters on our forums who still dont believe that the PS4 has ~40$ more computational grunt. I know I've been involved in most of the technical discussions.

Also this doesnt really prove much. For all we know Tomb Raider could probably run at 1080p 60FPS on X1 as well given more time and optimisation.

what frame rate did Tomb raider run at on the Xbox360 btw?

Analysis videos I've seen seem to average 30 fps and it dips around the 20s.

so being upgraded from the 720p of the 360 to the 1080p but maintaining the same fps on the X1 allows them to title it "the definitive edition"? I can see a lot of Ps4 versions of multiplatform games taking that subtitle for themselves if this is the case.

Based on the source of this fps thing tho, I'll wait to see digital foundries breakdown before I'd believe it to be 100% true, no point a game being labeled at 60fps if it comes at the cost of torn frames or random drops at points, would actually rather a stable 30 than a stuttering 60 if I'm honest. Every other resolution "scandel" has been based on Digital foundry info and so should this tbh not someone on twitch saying it feels like 60fps.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Lots of reasons, what if all your friends are on Xbox?

For me the biggie is controller. Probably the single biggest reason I stick Xbox. Just dont like the dual shock.

So yes I'd rather play the slightly inferior version with the controller I vastly prefer.

It also got a lot of graphics upgrades. They released a comparison video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NUX2rG_u8w

Most of them are somewhat minor, but probably overall they help. Still, it's definitely a cross-gen game, rooted in last gen with a new coat of paint.

In my mind all they really did was port the PC version to next gen consoles;. The higher quality assets were already done for PC. Little extra work was required.

You mean a confirmed 100% gap in framerate.

The Toyota Camry is the sales leader in it's group even though it's one fo the worst cars in it's class. The Accord or Mazda 6 being better still matters.
