Forums - Sales - Nintendo Wii-U and 3DS overtracked?

Last week Nintendo lowered their forecast for this year to 13 million 3DS and 2.8 million Wii-U. Mind you these would be shipped numbers. However VGChartz has the following numbers as sold to consumers up to 11 January:

Sales from 31 March 2013 to January 11 2014:

Wii-U:   2,689,254

3DS:    12,083,160

With 11 weeks to go that would mean that Wii-U would only sell 10k a week and 3DS only about 85k a week. If we look at last year we can probably expect atleast  45k a week for Wii-U and 140k a week for 3DS. With VGChartz current numbers that would bring the total of Wii-U to almost 3.2 million(against 2.8 million shipped) and the 3DS to over 13.7 million(against 13 million shipped).

Around the Network

maybe they lowered it so low that they can say "we beat expectations"

They overshipped both WiiU and 3DS last fiscal year, plus they lowered 3DS down to 13.5 million, not 13m.
