Wouldn't be the first time that Nintendo has announced something at the last minute (the third Sonic title could possibly go this way). Also, we don't know when MK8 is going to release, it could be set for March - which would be enough to satisfy things. Bayonetta 2 also has a chance of showing up.

Other curiosities that might indicate upcoming announcements... "The Mysterious Murasame Castle" was rated by the Australian Classification Board back in May last year... but no VC release of the game, even now. Perhaps the rating was for something other than a VC release. Steel Diver: Subwars was classified in November. Four other Nintendo classifications have been made with no game title attached (instead, just classified as 001, 002, 003, and 004), all classified in December. 001-003 were all listed with Japan as the "country of origin"... 004's listing had USA, instead.

Ratings typically only happen near release (although there are exceptions). But the number-coded titles are never already-announced titles. So it seems likely that Nintendo has some unannounced titles set for release early this year. The question is, how early?

Im more worried for the vita than the wii u. Nintendo already announced so much games, while the vita is empty.

Terrible planning by nintendo, they should have been developing smash, mario kart, metroid, zelda and dk back in 2010 ready for 2012/2013 releases to give there new console a shot in the arm. Now it is 2014 and not one of those games has released yet and zelda and metroid havent even been revealed.

Erm, but it has had games released that have done nothing for it. Also at the moment, the PS4 has few less games yet selling way more units.
The issue is not games, just that it is a poor console that not much can be done with.

Keep calm and play one of these awesome WiiU games (because hardly any of have bought them):
-deus ex
-the wonderful 101
-splinter cell blacklist
-injustice
-need for speed
-assasins creed
-rayman legends

and wait for DK tropical freeze

after you play all those , there should be more games out.

The Wii U is probably destined to be a game without many new releases each year. That's something people will have to deal with. That makes it great for a secondary console, though the price needs to be lower for that, or a console for people who don't play a ton of videogames. However, for those with gaming as a primary hobby, it will probably mean replaying a lot of games or picking up another device. On the other hand, it will likely be a good console to pick up a year or two from now, where people can work their way backwards through the available content.

The reality is that Nintendo is not big enough to support a console with a packed release schedule on their own. In some ways that's good for them, as people HAVE to buy Nintendo software, but it's not good if the hardware doesn't sell to begin with. The obvious situation is paying for more outside development but that's a risk. W101 did not work out to Nintendo's advantage, though that's possibly because it wasn't skinned as a Mario game. You also have to wonder at what point Nintendo will decide to minimize risks with the Wii U. They are incredibly frugal with their money. It wouldn't surprise me if they cut risky investments into the Wii U if it continues to struggle.
