Look how much fun Aaron Paul is having with it, I can't believe that didn't translate to better sales.

people arent THAT gullible. you cant fool them all the time. By that logic Walking Dead SI should have done way better that had actual ads.

sarcasm bra, look at his face lol

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Wait! Are you trying to tell us that isn't the "Ninty fan authentic happy face"?  :-O

The only marketing I've seen has been on Twitter.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I know a lot of people who bought Wii Fit, myself included. And none of them still use it, that is if they even own it anymore. So why would anyone buy the new one just to not use that? Another example of Nintendo making assumptions based on hope rather than any sort of real speculation.

casual gaming is doomed!!!! no more fatties in the states???

Actually the issue is different: it's just that Ninty wants Wii U to cater for hardcores, and hardcores are happy to stay fat! It must be genetics, because at the faculty of engineering I know many people that regularly go to the gym, some even play rugby, but they're almost all fat! When they aren't it's because they are puny human larvae (often involved in boy scout or religious or nerdy sci-fi or fantasy associations, it looks like this helps preserving them in the larval state) and secrete the excess fat through their skin, particularly through monster-sized pimples that weirdly survived on their faces after they got past their teens. And when I had to resume working out after a skiing accident, and I swam one hour/day plus gym for more than a year, I remained quite fat anyway! Actually I never got thin even during military service, running 5km/day plus push-ups and other exercises plus marching. You can't win against genetics, might as well surrender immediately and stop suffering.

Anyhow, maybe casual gaming isn't doomed, after all, but this doesn't prove wrong the Golden Law of D0m3: whatever happens, Ninty is ALWAYS d0m3d.

In what way is the Wii U targeted towards the hard core? Its online? Its library? Its graphics? Its name? Please.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

This comes as no surprise. Most of the people who bought Wii Fit don't have a Wii U.

It's all about the game.

It's barely been marketed (at least from what I've seen)

If they advertised it on HGTV and TLC and what not, the casual audience that bought it on the Wii would definitely flock to it.

It also might be low because it was free for a month to owners of the balance board.

Nintendo hired a Celebrity trainer to market it, showed it off on Fox friends, and had advertisiements for it all over the place with the whole new year resolution and its code outside Stichkt. Are you a hermit?

NIntenod's been marketing you know/.

Apparently I am a hermit because I didn't know any of this XD besides them hiring a celebrity trainer but thats it.

wii fit u is nearly all digital (free months given away), is on a smaller base than wii, and has had far less advertisement

this should surprise no one.

Nintendo did consumer research, there are still people who use wii fit U  500k in japan to be exact.

I'm sure there are still people that are interested, but they seemed to be counting on this game to be one of their saving graces.  It was pretty obvious that it was never going to even come close to the sales of the original.  I think Nintendo chooses to ignore the tens of millions of people who got Wiis, played them for a bit, and will never pick up a controller ever again.
