The 3DS has been a disappointment and the WiiU is a total flop. How much harder can he fail?

David Jaffe suggests Nintendo should try selling the company to Disney,......    maybe people not forgot?

He only said that because Disney has done a lot of great stuff with Marvel and Pixar.

But success and failure in consoles isn't measured in years, it's measured in hardware cycles. We'll know if Nintendo has learned its lessons when the next round of hardware ships, and not before.

Success and failure is measured in dollars. A good leader at Nintendo could return them to some profitability without new hardware.

What you're claiming would grant unconditional immunity to the leadership for the next four or more years.

To me it just seems like most people calling for Iwata to resign or be fired haven't considered the possibility of him being replaced by someone much worse. That's my greatest concern. The company isn't doing very well, but it's still making great games on real consoles with no nonsense.

That recent thread about Don Mattrick getting Iwata's job was (I think) meant as a joke, but it's within the realm of possibility. Oust Iwata from his position and someone like that is quite likely to take the helm. In what direction would he steer Nintendo? Mobile devices? Free-to-play? Maybe fee-to-pay? Not everyone is a big fan of the white tanuki suit in recent Mario titles, but just imagine if the game charged you a dollar every time you used it.
