Very true. Sony's biggest mistake with the Vita and Nintendos with the Wii U was thinking that the hardcore crowd could carry the console. |
I especially find the vita and the WII U to be extremely repulsive in my eyes.

Couldn't you say the same thing about other popular titles like halo, COD, and GTA ? -_- |
I consider all 3 of those games to be pretty casual. My girlfriend bought a 360 and has only every used it for the Halo games, Hulu, and Netflix. You would be suprised how many people buy an Xbox/PS3 just for Halo, GTA, or Call of Duty.

I would also consider them to be casual too. ^_^
At the same time these are very high quality games too in my eyes.

There's not much on the Wii U that appeals to more casual players right now. Nintendo has sold 1.3 million Wii U's since SM3DW came out and sold less than a million from February to mid November combined. That size of a boost though is also the reason why I think the Wii U is far from dead, it just needs games that your average person wants to play. I love Pikmin, but come on now thats about as hardcore as you can get.

I agree. Alot of times things that are casual, start out as hardcore but become so popular that the mainstream catches on to it. It took Call of Duty five games before it became really mainstream. GTA III did decent at 1st but as time went on it became more and more popular, which is why San Andreas and Vice City sold more.

Well you know what they say, a large franchise isn't built in a day.
The Wii U will probably end up with a smaller install base than the N64 at this rate, so I really doubt it.

I never had it either. I have gotten every one since Double Dash though. It ussually takes time for a franchise to gain massive popularity. The only exception I can think of is Pokemon, but with the TV show and trading cards, it had so much exposure that it really blew up overnight. Even Mario was in a couple of games before Super Mario Brothers, that were not very popular.

It depends what Nintendo releases for it going forward. It really only takes a few games to make a console a massive success. The Gameboy sold 118 million just because of Pokemon(76 million) and Tetris(30 million). If it wasnt for Call of Duty ,Fifa, and Grand Theft Auto last gen, PS3 would have been a massive failure, and the 360 would have only sold N64 numbers, and thats only because they sold 20+ million Kinects. I think alot right now is riding on whatever Miyamoto is working on.
No, but it will be a better game in every way, which is all I care about. :)
