Then I'd rather the industry full of casuals rather than hardcore because they are the ones saving the industry. I'd classify myself as casual too. 

Very true.  Sony's biggest mistake with the Vita and Nintendos with the Wii U was thinking that the hardcore crowd could carry the console.

I especially find the vita and the WII U to be extremely repulsive in my eyes. 

There's not much on the Wii U that appeals to more casual players right now.  Nintendo has sold 1.3 million Wii U's since SM3DW came out and sold less than a million from February to mid November combined.   That size of a boost though is also the reason why I think the Wii U is far from dead, it just needs games that your average person wants to play.  I love Pikmin, but come on now thats about as hardcore as you can get.
