They need to get rid of their "only for kids" imagine. Without the casual market they need to recapture some of the gamers from MS and Sony. The age ratings for the top 20 360 and PS3 games pretty much summarizes where the market has gone.

The Wii U has been a trainwreck, but it would probably do more harm than good if they kill it too early: their customers (like myself) would immediatly distrust anything they say and certainly wouldn't buy any hardware from them any time soon. Nintendo can scrape by if their clever about how they handle the situation and try to make money off of selling low budget software on the Wii U. And while the 3DS needs replacing, doing it in 2015 would mean that it would have a life span of only 4 years. Nintendo will still be racking in the money then, so there is no need to replace it so soon. Even if you kept it on the market another two years, that would still leave it with a total lifespan of six years on the market which is still less than the DS was Nintendos handheld for. I just think you're trying to get them to change tactics to quickly.

It's very likely to be honest that the 3DS has peaked sales wise and Nintendo is on track to lose money again next fiscal year. If they couldn't turn a profit this year with Pokemon X/Y and several other big titles and the 2DS release. That would be 4 straight years of operating losses at Nintendo. 

They need a new money making product line in the worst way. 3DS can still be around, Nintendo fans who have the same early 90s thinking that a new piece of hardware automatically makes the old one completely obosolete need to grow up a bit IMO. 3DS can coexist just fine as long as its a lower price bracket by 2015/16, which it should be. 

Times have changed, you just can't sit there for 5-6 years while other entertainment formats completely cannibalize your market, Nintendo has to be proactive or they will be left in the dust. 

A Limited Edition 64GB Wii U bundled with Super Smash Bros U for $299.99.

Maybe a Limited Edition Wii U with Zelda U for the same price.

The West really, really seems to like Mario Kart and Zelda. (Especially NA.) If Nintendo doesn't completely muck up the launches of these games, then that will be a good sign. There's not much of a need to push third party in the West since Nintendo has some heave hitters already.

If Nintendo decides to bundle them, that will be an even better sign.

Hehe, when I saw this title I expected that the entire text in the first post would be "Nothing." Too much negativity the last days you know ;)

But I honestly don't expect them to do much of the things you said in the first post, especially not opening up more western studios. They may try to get better relations with other third parties in the west though. But at this point my hope has driven to the ground and beyond. Still I like to believe that they have amazing things to show at E3, and MORE GAMES. Not just another Mario Tennis and Golf for Wii U, but more Star Fox and Metroid (which is the cause of my hope being low).

Ah...they'll probably just turn more of their solo gameplay franchises into multiplayer games and think that's enough.

Mario Kart is one of the highest selling franchises of all time, and this new entry looks HD enough and fresh/inventive enough that it has people excited for it, not just "oh that's cool".

No one game is going to "save" any console. But Mario Kart 8 is sure as fuck going to make a major difference. Take that to the bank.
