Forums - Sony - Sony is completely wasting the opportunity of the demo units

Now Sony has been doing a damn fine job marketing their new PS4 and part of that was sending out PS4 demo units to the retailers.

Here in my city the PS4 demo units are placed in very visible spaces and quite a few people try them out pretty regularly, also there are no X1 demo units here so they don't even have competition from that. So all that gives them a great opportunity to advertise the system and especially the games currently out and soon coming out on it.

And this is where Sony is wasting an opportunity, because even though the console has been out for over a month now, there is still only Knack on those demo units (last time I checked, which was a week ago).

I get that they can't put M-rated games on those things, but really? Is Knack the best thing you have to represent your new machine?

Put some sports games on there, some Need for Speed, some Resogun. Put some freaking Driveclub and Infamous on there!!

This is really the thing those demo units should be used for now that interest in the PS4 is still at such a high point, advertise your big games on them before they come out. Middle of february at the latest there should be an Infamous demo on those things, this would really help get the word out for Infamous, especially in Europe where the series has never been that big. I mean the game's T rated so that should be possibly, right? Same for Driveclub, for whenever it releases, some weeks prior to its release there should be a demo for it on those demo units.

here in the uk, every shop that did demo units seriously shut down like GAME and HVM.
I saw a demo unit in a supermarket but it wasnt even switched on!

Demo units constantly get updated, im sure as time goes on better demoed games will be available. In my area the demo units are on and cycling through Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 which I personally belive are definite drivers of early sales as people tend to like familiarity and those two games are high in terms of what games people expect to see on a next gen sony console.

Seriously?! They're still used where I live.

But with only Knack on them it's no wonder that they'd get rid of them honestly :D

I tried the demo at Target here, and was less than impressed by knack so I went with a WiiU instead which has a much better gaming library.

If no M-rated is allowed, then I guess they could demo NBA2K or Fifa, or the Need for Speed game

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Seen Fifa being played on a ps4 demo unit. Hardly very inspiring though. A lot of people were watching it behind the player.

Last time I saw a PS4 demo unit with my own eyes, in a Verkkokauppa store, Helsinki, Finland, it was running FIFA 14, so I think it's a matter of luck and region as to what you will see.

I saw one with Knack and Killzone. I played both and was very disappointed.
