100 bux extra for an underpowered GPU and Kinect = cha-ching

$ 9,504 - Windows Division
$ 8,164 - Server and Tools
$ -(1,281) - Online Services Division
$ 16,194 - Microsoft Business Division (the Office division)
$ 848 - Entertainment and Devices Division
$ -(6,665) - Corporate-Level Activity

If those numbers are correct, then the Xbox is really just a pittance for Microsoft, OK I wasn't expecting it to be as big as Windows but I didnt think it was that unimportant for their bottomline

Did you even read the thread? Learn how much time it takes to ship containers from China to Europe/America/Africa (Hint: You can actually go to the website of the big freight companies and check the exact duration. You could even check which ships are involved).

And can we stop with this silly "only in 13 countries once and for all? It is available in Europe's entirety. Think Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Anazon.uk, Amazon.it.. Europe has, to a large extent, been covered for those people who "must have" an XBox One.

a) If that was the case, why bother releasing it in other countries; according to you Amazon has it covered.  All these bricks and mortar game stores must be fighting over the scraps.  Applying your logic, when the XBox One does officially launch in the other European countries sales will be very, very low as anyone who wanted one will already have ordered it from Amazon.de or one of the others you listed. Really?

b) I would not buy an item costing that much from another country when it may arrive damaged or develop a fault,

c) when i know it will be released in my country at a later date.  Yes, you could arrange to send it back but there is added hassle.  I think I am in the majority.

a) notice that I wrote "must have" people. And yes, I do not expect much higher numbers than the average expected from "NON must have" people. Those "non must have people" are the ones that are waiting for official release (although, like in X360's case, several countries might never see an official release at all - still they have their MediaMarkt equivalents selling X360s...)

b) depending on country, you can save a sh"tton of money going Amazon. Switzerland is an extreme example, since you can save (using msrp values) roughly $150. That is why there are plenty of XBox One owners right now in Switzerland..

c) umpteen thousands of people ordered on Amazon.us. Obviously you are in a small minority concerning this argument.

Wow.  Umpteen thousand people (where do you get figures this accurate - VGChartz staff must be beating down your door) ordered from the US.  Demand in Europe must be satisfied already :-/ smh.  This argument is what you say puts me in a small minority.  This is too funny.  I remember reading never to argue with an idiot.  I'm going to stop now.

All cock-size comparisons with Sony aside, if Microsoft can turn such a huge profit amidst the enormous cost of a launch, they're in for a major profit on this generation of consoles if they can keep the games going!

That.  Was.  Gold.

So Microsoft is doomed or Xbox One is doomed? Funny to see many internet haters are eating crows... And as expected, some Sony forces came here to troll/downplay the success of Microsoft as usual. Why not go to the shops to purchase more Sony stuff to support your preferred company rather than trolling on the internet?

Yay. Every quarterly report reminds me just how small the other big 2 are by comparison. :)

Yes, I was thinking this.  How much 6 Billion is in profit for only 3 months.  It is amazing.  How many countries have an annual GDP of less than that?

Then, I realized their quarter revenue is larger than either the entire valuation of Sony or Nintendo.  It is staggering.

Also, so why is it so low on the front page if they have shipped so many?  (Oh, right the unspoken rule, lol.)

Sony's revenue was over $18 billion for the 3 months ending september.  That was higher than Sony's market capitalisation at any time during those 3 months.

Mobil did very well for them that quarter. Unfortunately, they still ended up with a loss of $197 million.  Like pouring a bucket of water in a desert, it's just gone.

One have to remember their debt.  They did sell the builings, other busineses and cut jobs to save money. Yet, Sadly, they are even behind Kodak with debt vs income.

(Looked at other numbers)

Wow, Microsoft year over year growth is nearly 4 times what Apple was for the same period!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

That is why a lot of Xb1 would be found on the shelves and if you don't find ps4 it is there for you.
