Japan is still primarily a Japanese developer driven market, that's the reality of the situation, and it's a situation that's veering more towards portable gaming, not less. 

The numbers back this up, we get sales every week from there, I don't need a survey of like 100 people to tell me what the market there is like. 

Despite no longer being even close to the best RPG franchise anymore.  Sad.

With Sony clearly back on top people probably have faith Square(Enix) is changing back to what they were once before the "Call of Duty Gen".
And of course people hope SquareEnix learned from their mistakes targeting the wrong community.The Tales Studios learned from their mistakes and are healthy and strong only cause they switched back to what the people wanted from them.

Its good to see Japanese People getting interested in Western Games...at least on their favorite Console.
Variety and a lot of different styles for those western games helps probably getting attention to them.Especially the Sony 1st Party and others they are maybe interested in and arent mainstream aren't all about a US Soldier saving the world and annoying Multiplayer.

Final Fantasy will never go back to what it was  sadly.
