If we look at things a little more logical, MS and Sony can only sell the consoles that they can make. BOTH consoles started production around the same time and BOTH consoles will have the similar resources to make the console. So it doesn't matter what markets you are in but overal sales. MS pumped more consoles in the US because that's where they will sell the most (a lot less demand in europe) while Sony has strong demand in both Europe and USA.

After 2 months it's stupid to compare any sales. We knew that Sony and MS have strong fanbases and will snap up the initial consoles made. The real test is how many weeks they will have high demand and what side will the neutrals and casuals will take. Early indications says that the PS4 will widen the gap in all terriotries once supply doesn't play a factor.

Actually the best exclusive PS4 has is Resogun, which destroys anything in the XBO library. 

Now if PS4 had the supply to meet demand they would have beaten the XBO. It's only 50k behind and the PS4 is sold out everywhere. You can deny it all you want but it's true.

Just Don't trust Nintendo France about all this... they often are very weird with what they announce. (here they probably calculate this by saying 100% Wii owners are active and 2players active per console LOL!)

About Wii U numbers in France:

2012: 240K shipped - 118K units sold   (confirmed by GfK / VGC almost same numbers)

First half 2013: 41K units sold (so a little bit less than 7K units a month) (Confirmed by GfK / Nintendo France CEO announcement / VGC almost same numbers) Total of 159K LTD here

After that, announcements from Phillipe Lavoue (CO-CEO Nintendo France):

As of Nov 3th - 175K units sold so 16K units from July to Nov 3th  (4K units a month)

As of Dec 31st - 300K units sold so 125K for Nov+Dec (62.5K units a month)

It is just impossible and unbelievable that both of those last announcements are true. One, if not 2 of thoses, are wrong.

Also last year they said Wii was still over x360 (in the first half of 2013) since they had the wii mini, GfK confirmed it false, X360 was selling more every month by a large margin.

Let's just wait for Financial reports (Sony,Microsoft,Nintendo) + Gfk hardware numbers in Europe/France for this !

So Wii U did better than we initially thought: good, if it can hold out in a longer term and possibly grow too later, 8th gen will be better overall and more interesting.
Excellent 3DS, XBOne and PS4, and they better be, as PS3 and XB360 did worse than we thought (not to mention the other old HW, really plummeting), new gen must balance last gen decrease if we want the market to stay healthy.
Sony must do something more for PSV in EU and a lot more in USA. If not immediately, at least after PS4 launch sales settle down in Japan too.
