Forums - Gaming - Is Metal Gear Zeroes an Important Release? Day One DLC, Micro-Transactions, and More

Day 1 DLC, Microtransactions, it's all shit for the industry and is only making it worse. This glorified prequel is no better than those practices.

I really like the series and I will probably end up getting it. I would guess Konami is doing this as Metal Gear Solid is a big money maker for them. I wonder what they will do once Metal Gear Solid is over for good...

MGS4 was the sole reason i bought the Ps3 and i still love that game from the bottom of my heart, but im worried about the future of the franchise once Kojima decides to let his team carry on the torch.

DLC and microtransactions for a glorified demo. I am going to wait. Then I will get a proper complete game.

Nah, nothing like that man.  I was using them as references as things that started off as something small and then became popularized over-time.  Could we see things like this and GT Prologue in the future if this game becomes successful was my question.

MGS doesnt have Micro-transactions and Day one dlc though, no worries :)

Saw it. It was a good video. I thumbs upped it.

Who's being defensive? I'm merely discussing the topic, if you don't want people to discuss the topic don't make the topics to begin with.

If anything you're being too sensitive because someone disagrees with you.

Xbox live vs psn comparison was not needed or in any way relevant, fail to see why you added it other than to take a random pot shot at psn.

^^^^ That is not the topic.  I explained why i talked about it and then you posted this

Also, just so you know, Xbox live is very much Microsoft's answer to the GameSpy service of old on PC, a subscription based service that allowed multiplayer across games with friends lists, unified ID, premium game servers and more.

These are all basic elements of an online service so neither Microsoft nor Sony were directly copying, they were simply offering a service in the only way you can.

You don't see people saying Samsung copied Nokia because they used a screen and buttons on their phone because these are basic, expected elements, most of the online functionality of consoles are basic elements too.

You'll find also that trophies were a result of constant public demand for something similar to achievements, and while its very similar they at least tried to give it its own uniqueness.

Dlc and micro transactions are only recent things because of the expanding technology, as we go forward the way we do things is bound to change along with it.

^^^^^Again not the topic and yes it seems defensive as it isnt the topic at hand. Even to proceed to say "if it were halo i would have"

Capcom already did it with Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Was a big success.

I actually enjoyed Case Zero more than the actual Dead Rising 2!

this whole "full experience" argument is such bullshit. no one can provide a fucking definition for what a "full experience" is for a video game.

is anyone complaining that the LotR trilogy was 3 movies? i mean, i had to buy 3 movie tickets to view the whole story. maybe i should have protested until they released a 9+hour "full experience" because otherwise i'm just being nickle and dimed right?!?

hell, metal gear has a continuous story. maybe i should hold out for the metal gear 1,2,3,ect "full experience" that also gives me access to all future content in the metal gear franchise...

fuck guys, there a product being offered for a price. if you think the product is worth the price buy it, if not then don't buy it. ...but you aren't entitled to shit.

Maybe to a certain extent. But only advancing to level 5 made me never play it again, considering the difference when you're level 50 on the main game or Case West :(

I'm really hyped for the game and I'm still going to pick it up, but I'm disappointed that they've done this. I just hope I get my money's worth.

Its an overpriced tech demo. I wouldn't waste any money on it, this is the type of game I will wait for a game of the year bundle with both for a reasonable price. Screw this 2 releases for the same game.

Your missing the bigger picture. We are currently in a industry where we are paying "more for less". Moves like this only help to encourage the more for less movement.

Basically my point to Jaywood when bringing up Halo, but put across in a more direct way, Thanks Kitler.
