Pretty sure it's harder to market a single player only game right now.

Which is more evidence that the market is not waiting for MP games only. Some were advacating all games to be MP only, which is based on nothing.

how did you draw that conclusion from his statement?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

SP made Cod, Halo and Half Life what they are today while titanfall will end like all other MP only games (unreal, brink, mag).

Half Life sure, but Halo most people spent their time in MP not SP. COD the SP did not make that big at all.

Where do you see me base it on his statement?

Honestly it's not that much harder to market. It's a shooter with mechs! Just do what you can to make it look better than Call of Duty and that should be sufficient.

To what the target audience, what are we otherwise, think about games lacking SP or to a lesser extent, MP.

There was a time when game game development were all about single player experiences, and the game would cost full price ($60)

Then when console multi-player online games took off,It then moved to a game must having both single player and multi player built in and the game still cost ($60).

Titanfall is a test. A test to see if we gamer's will fork over $60 for just Multiplayer only.
If this games sell like they think it will, there will be man more shooters going the way of developing 1 mode only.

Honestly based off the SP of the Major shooters of this past gen a pure focus on MP would better benefit them as the SP is pretty much lacking in them.

Counterstrike seemed to do just fine, as have a number of MMO shooters.

I'm pretty sure marketing won't (or shouldn't) be a problem when it actually comes time to sell.

Cause people actually play fps for their single player...
