Why do people praise super Mario bros for its 40m sales when over 28m of them were down to the game being bundled with the console in the US?
I suppose by that logic, the ps1 demo disk is the highest selling game of all time.

THIS!! Finally someone said it. The game managed excellent numbers and so did Mario Kart Wii, and NSMB but people can't accept the fact that most of the sales were bundeled. GTA V is already the fastest selling game of all time.

Because it still sold greatly and was the main reason people bought the NES. And let's be honest here, that game changed the face of gaming forever.

It did sell well but worldwide would be sub 12m without the bundled-with-every-system in the us action, same goes for tetris on the gameboy too.

I agree with your point too. It was a game people would have bought, although it wouldn't have sold 40 million, if it wasn't bundled.

Mario Kart seems to enjoy that position with limited bundles right? I dont know. but gta v should be close to outselling that by now.

I'll just leave this here.

This site won't track it but GTA V will probably sell a huge amount during some steamsale for $3 or something once it hits the PC, combine that with continued sales on PS360 and possibly a nextgen version and I can see 40mil for the game.

Back in those days though, all the rage on NES was Mario, so I think if it wasn't bundled, it would have easily eclipsed the 20-25 millon mark.

But back on topic, if no PS4 version of GTAV is announced, it could easily pass GTA:SA's 23 million sold on the PS3 alone. The thought of that is just insane.

Yes, the best selling non bundled game too.

I thought these "Best selling" lists didn't combine multi-platform titles? Just individual exclusives.

But Mario Kart Wii is an exclusive. Gta V is multiplatform. Only Nintendo can top themselves.

Isn't the second best seeling video game of history Super mario world with 52 millions ?
