Apple reveals $1 billion spent in December alone

Apple has revealed that its App Store customers spent over $10 billion last year, with $1 billion of that total paid out in December alone.

"We'd like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store," said Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue.

"The line-up of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014."

During the announcement Apple gave special shout outs to some of its biggest hits, which included the games Heads Up, Impossible Road, Candy Crush Saga, Puzzles & Dragons, Minecraft, QuizUp and Clumsy Ninja.

Last year Apple also named Ridiculous Fishing by Vlambeer its iPhone Game of the Year. Frogmind's Badland was named the iPad Game of the Year.

Ha ha ha.

Who actually spends money on the App store? Almost everyone I know with a Iproduct just downloads free apps.

well i know for sure non of those came from my town.
the concept of paying for digital is foreign here, noone knows what Steam is, and instead of paying for piad iPhone apps, they all just eagerly await a jailbreak and install vShare :P

Has it not been "scientifically proven" that Apple owners are the "more elite" in society and therefore spend far more money on Apps than the "poorer and less educated" Android and Windows mobile owners do?

Considering some of the people I see with iPhones it definitely isn't 100% accurate.

I estimate that at least 15% of this sum was spent without parental consent.

I spent a whopping 0.99 € on mobile Apps so far. But I plan the re-new my WhatsApp, so there goes another 0.99€!

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

its a shame all the games are made for you to spend money and grind and if u cant beat u buy ur way through..

I spent $0.00 on the app store this year.

Take that Apple, you're not getting my money... not like you need it though.
