Forums - Nintendo - Analyst lowers WiiU shipment forecast to 4.3m

Lol if they think they can ship 4.3 million Wii U's from December to March is the biggest shocker here.

They will be lowering it again.

When does their fiscal year end? Because it is already way above 4.3 million unless they want to please investors and undershoot it. Either that or Wii U is overtracked

Their fiscal year ends March.
They've sold 2.4m according to our numbers since April 2013. No signs of undertracking. If that news is true, they must expect one hell of a Q1....

I believe they mean shipments, not sold to consumers. They have probably shipped close to 6 million consoles at this point. With the continued momentum of Mario3D worlds (especially in Japan) and DK in February, another 1 million plus shipments for this quarter (globally) is very plausible.

of course they mean shipments, but from the sold through data you can already estimate Q4 (Nintendo's Q3) numbers before they officially release it.
2.4m units sold means ~2.6m shipped if it wasn't for the holiday season. So they shipped probably 3m so far this fiscal year which means there are ~600k on shelves that will last this whole month, so starting February they are going to ship new consoles for the 2 remaining months, but not anywhere near 1.3m units.

Least this is reachable unlike that stupid 9 million one... They may have been able to reach 9 million if Kart was released in 2013 and Smash in Jan-Feb but they didn't

I think that would have been a stretch aswell. Mario kart will boost sales no doubt, but almost triple sales? No that's way to much.

Thats why I also said Smash... Kart + Smash + World should have had enough to boost it to 9 million (Since the fiscal year is March 2014) cause Kart and Smash are really big system sellers... Heck, Smash Sold over 7 million on gamecube which had 20 million lifetime sales...

This sounds fake.

I would tend to agree but not at the Wii-U's current price, and with X360/PS3 competition.
