Forums - Gaming - Dying Light is probably gonna suck on 7th gen consoles.

Dying Light is $50 on 7th gen and $60 on 8th gen.

That leads me to believe the 7th gen version will be an inferior product and not just visually.

At the moment companies are pricing 8th gen more than 7th gen, because of the extra costs involved and the lower number of sales they would expect to get so early in the life of these new consoles. This has nothing to do with the quality of the product.

As for the quality of the product, well we have a set of consoles that is 7 years old, or consoles that are at least 3x more powerful (which isnt insignificant).. so both graphics, FPS, rendering, audio, characters on screen, load times etc etc will be worse, so yes it will be an inferior product. Not sure why that would be a surprise to anyone.

Sounds like spin to me!

If they were happier with the quality of the 7th gen versions, it would likely be $60.

What spin? What I have written is 100% true.

1. All game engines have to be updated to work on next gen, guess what this costs money and takes time.

2. 160 million consoles will sell better than 6 million next gen consoles.

3. Devkits for next gen has to be purchased, guess what that costs money.

Thereby, ergo, next gen recoups less income than last gen, so having a higher markup is important to recoup that initial investment.

This has nothing to do with quality. I have already said by default these games will in 99% run better on next gen anyway.

And if they were happier with the final product, it would be the same price as the 8th gen versions.

We'll have to wait and see how many corners were cut.

Well when you compare AC4 on PS4 to PS3 or 360, there is no doubt i would pay that bit more to get the PS4 version if the gap is the same or more likely bigger

AC4 is basically the same on 7th gen consoles as 8th gen.

The disparity in Dying Light will be bigger.

The corners are cut *BECAUSE* of the 7 year old hardware.... like i said the game will be worse BECAUSE its running on 7 year old hardware, with regards to the price its because a price point is already set for that generation of games.

I think we should be more worried about the XBO version right now considering Techland hasn't announced a resolution yet. They've confirmed that the PS4 version is running at 1080p. Now before anyone jumps down my throat I'm not saying the XBO isn't going to be able to run at 1080p, it just seems strange that they haven't even announced anything yet.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

The game might suck either way.

We expect the 8th gen versions to be superior and mostly visually. But if they're going to actually reduce the price of the 7th gen versions, it makes me wonder how inferior the 7th gen versions are going to be.

Bear in mind my thread title says, "probably."

I'd be fine with 720p if the game runs at 60 fps.

My guess is that won't happen.

Same here. My HDTV can only output at 720p. I am getting a new one soon though.
