Dying Light is $50 on 7th gen and $60 on 8th gen.
That leads me to believe the 7th gen version will be an inferior product and not just visually.

At the moment companies are pricing 8th gen more than 7th gen, because of the extra costs involved and the lower number of sales they would expect to get so early in the life of these new consoles. This has nothing to do with the quality of the product.
As for the quality of the product, well we have a set of consoles that is 7 years old, or consoles that are at least 3x more powerful (which isnt insignificant).. so both graphics, FPS, rendering, audio, characters on screen, load times etc etc will be worse, so yes it will be an inferior product. Not sure why that would be a surprise to anyone.

Sounds like spin to me!
If they were happier with the quality of the 7th gen versions, it would likely be $60.

What spin? What I have written is 100% true.
1. All game engines have to be updated to work on next gen, guess what this costs money and takes time.
2. 160 million consoles will sell better than 6 million next gen consoles.
3. Devkits for next gen has to be purchased, guess what that costs money.
Thereby, ergo, next gen recoups less income than last gen, so having a higher markup is important to recoup that initial investment.
This has nothing to do with quality. I have already said by default these games will in 99% run better on next gen anyway.
