Two very different styles of movies.  Both monsters are badasses though.  I can't go against Godzilla here, but I did think Cloverfield was better than any Godzilla movie I ever watched.

Now, my money would be on Godzilla because of it’s ‘Super G Cells.’  But that was before I learned Cloverfield was a baby.  Really?  That huge monster is a baby?  So how big does a Cloverfield get?  And what happens when all the babies get super big?  They would be really crowded on this tiny planet.

Plus, couldn’t Godzilla just enjoy some fresh toasted Cloverfield with his atomic breath?  It’s big whitish and fluffy, probably taste like marshmallows.

I originally would have thought Cloverfield due to sheer size, but after all those points I think it's pretty obvious that Godzilla would win. Even beyond a fair fight, consider the fact that Godzilla is a good guy and the Cloverfield monster is a bad guy. No question either way.

Really, why isan't Gamera in this discussion?  That turtle kicked serious ass.

Amen. I freaking adore the 90s trilogy. He had so much depth; programmed to protect humankind, but betrayed, then disconnected from his bond with humans, then forced to make sacrifices in human lives to protect the world as a whole.
