I missed console gaming last gen, joined budget PC gaming around 2008. From launch I supported the Wii and what it stood for from the sidelines (on the net >_>). Around 2010 my allegiance changed to the PS3. At the start of this gen I landed my first job and upgraded my PC to upper mainstream levels and grabbed a WiiU about 6 months after launch. I still believed in what the Wii stood for. If my PC didn't exist Id have waited and got a PS4 first and then got a WiiU later. As it stands there's not enough separating the PS4 from my PC but I expect to own one eventually. I have nothing against XBox its just not my cup of tea, paying for live "was" a big deal though. In-fact paying for PSN might be a barrier as I'm used to free online on my PC and WiiU >_>

Yh I can understand why it sucks to pay to go online compulsory especially if it isnt your main system, but if you were to spend £40 on PC and/or wii U, would you get as many games as you would in a year from PS+?

But if I were to make it one of my systems it would be a pain. I will buy a PS4 eventually but Im not always online, Id probably use the 3 month membership over the yearly one so that Im not paying for a service Im not always using. I dont have to budget or time when to play online on PC or Wii U. I Just go on or stay off whenever I feel like it.

Most free PSN+ games are fairly old and even if they arent theres no gurantee I'd play most of them. I bought a 50 game THQ pack on Steam for $50 dollars and only played about 8 games from there for example. Plus with the Random steam sales definately. WiiU not so much.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I had every intention of getting the nextbox until their infamous sport, tv, sport, tv, tv xbox1 launch with all the DRM and always online shit.

Then when that fool Mattrick told people they have a product for people with no or poor connections, the xbox360, I took about 30 of my 360 games the next day and traded them all in for a PS3 and pre-ordered a PS4 and then bought a Vita a few weeks after that.

I've always owned Nintendo consoles but I'm not going to be one of those idiots who is loyal to a company like they are a sports team or something.

I've never understood that.

Yeah, I was considering a 3DS for a while but I got converted by Sony's marketing team to get a Vita.

We did a good job didn't we?

Was a PC Gamer but hanging 25cm Face in Screen Mashing mouseklicks and installing a Lot of stuff is when i switched to Xbox in 07, Found Out there was a 360 already, bought One in 07 and now, After having the idea of jumping ship to PS4 i decided to buy Both Consoles the First Time. The One is the better console imho - better UI, now slightly the better Controller, better Online Community, better All around Features, and surprisingly better Games, i mean i Fell in Love with Knack from Scratch and wanted it badly to be good, but After some Hours i Must honestly say, sorry. Different Story with KZSF hadn't Had much expectations and it was as mediocre as i thought of.

PS4 fits Well under your TV, no Big Black Power brick, cheaper!, solid UI, Big step up from PS3, strangly unenthusiastic Online Community, thought it would be Different coz of that massive Internet Fan Boy Base. In Europe those Guys are called Internet Hooligans. they Stand their ground in the Forums, but Never Show off on the Pitch, when Fist Hits Bone.
But honestly the Future for PS4 Looks much brighter, the Games will come, the UI could step up to Even MS, Gaikai should be a Killer App for some, honestly i don't Care, coz who really wants to Play those old crappy PSone stuff on your Super Bravia?

I think to Call it a console war is false, coz it was a Blitzkrieg, won by Sony. I really Prefer the One but Most Gamers will be more than happy with What they have on PS4 and they are not wrong. What i think MS should do this new Gen is to make the Most Money Out of it they can, learn their lesson, bring on those Games which they have in plan, which imho are superior to Sonys.

Don't forget the Console War is not won by Selling the Most Consoles, the Winner is the Company That Profits the Most! There's Room to improve for Sony, make more Money from Subscriptions and. Online Services, Even DLC, Season Passes and Avatar Clothes, that's the Way it should be.

In the Future i think i really badly want The Order 1886, Uncharted4, Knack2 - really, Halo5, Quantum Break and a new Crackdown or Viva Pinata.

Sony is the better choice for long term exclusives. Microsoft has Halo and a very competitive community though. Sonys community is very competitive too, so we'll be seeing how rowdy it gets over time. I used to be in a Battlefield and Counterstrike clan in my PC days when the Xbox first came out and I was in grade school. I had much more time to waste on games  back then but as I grew up I started having less and less time for PC games (because there are so many). The amount of exclusives Sony will make this gen might blow my mind after what they already did during the PS3 era.

I don't convert to a console. It sounds religious.

What I do is switch consoles. I always was a Nintendo guy but I actually had all the Sony consoles. I even had the two models that came with every playstation. And even a PSP.

This was because I wasn't the one doing the pruchases but my parents. They would always come and tell me: "Look at what we got you!" and it was a Sony system! I never complained though because Sony systems tend to have lots of games and I was never unsatisfied.

But during those times I emulated the shit out of Nintendo games on my PC. I just liked those more!

Now I select my purchases and well... pay for them. I went to a Wii U and a 3DS as they where the cheapest options for me. I would like to go for a PS4 but my income will prevent me from getting one anytime soon.

Yes you would on the PC, PC gamers are cheap skates when it comes to game purchases.

A little thing called humble bundle, pay what you wan't walk away with half a dozen games, DRM free and you can keep them forever.
You could get several hundred games for that price in a year.

Then you need to account for the massive library of free PC games you can get on top of the Humble Bundle, high quality titles too.

Another thing to keep in mind with the PS+ is that if it's ever permenantly shut down or you stop paying for it, you loose your library, everything, all of it.
So... In 20 years time if you wanted to pull the console out and do some retro gaming like some people do today with the NES/SNES/N64, you might just be completely out of luck.
