Yes of course! 155 67.39%

No they intend to stream 61 26.52%

Other - explain below 14 6.09%

Wasn't this one of the reasons the XBOX One wasn't appealing at first?

Kinda 'Needing' Internet to play games and what-not.

I think there will be a PS5 but its going to be a transition console. ALL PS5 games are going to be available for streaming (kind of like how this gen digital download has become standard). This is to get people to used to the idea of streaming their games.

I think the odds of a PS6 being a dedicated console might not happen though. At that point I can see Sony selling controllers with a subscription, and I can totally see them selling a controller bundled with a TV.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Movies aren't universal as well, they have region lock. Cars could also be universal, just changing the nameplate.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

They're not propriatory though, which is the point, and now with Blu-Ray region locking is being phased out too with most production companies going region free.

HA! just what I said the other day

who knows

i dont even want to imagine what streaming the game and trying to play online will do to lag in games like BF4 CoD and racing games, they are claiming theres a small amount of input lag on the show floor, and thats not the real setup the servers are most likely in the building. Also as long as internet providers have Data Caps this wont be the only way to get games, i think it will be solely for previous Gen games. PS5 comes out PS4 games will be streamed. I did notice that they had 0 MP games on the show floor.

I think we'll see a PS5. I just don't think the infrastructure will be ready by then to make a jump like that. But I have no doubt that PSNow is an early look at what gaming will be like down the line.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

That's what they said about PS4 when Sony bought Gaikai

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Sounds like a more inconvenient alternative to a home console, so no I don't think it will happen.

Just read this article about PS Now - Forbes

One thing it mentioned -  "It does make you wonder if we'll ever even see a PS5, however. If PS Now works as well as advertised, the next Sony console might just be a subscription and a controller."

My colleague agrees that there will not be a PS5 console.

My thoughts straight away for PS Now was the steaming service will be used for older games for example - When the Playstation 5 console is released, PS Now will then stream PS4 games to TV's tablets etc.

That way it keeps everyone happy. We still have the excitement of owning hardware and discs and new customers are happy because they have access to great games at low cost

Let me know your thoughts...

PS Now solves the BC issue and that's as far as I see it. Like you say, when PS5 releases, the broadband technology will be MUCH faster and accessible/cheaper allowing PS4 games to then be running on the service, if not already.

REALLY THO

I...take that back. I seriously hope Sony doesn't recharge people for the digital content, that would just be stupid. Although if you already own it then its as easy as popping in the disc but still. Sony needs to take a lesson from MS and learn how to unify its services. But at the same time the article states that Sony "may" recharge you for games you already own, hasn't been confirmed yet.
