Just read this article about PS Now - Forbes

One thing it mentioned -  "It does make you wonder if we'll ever even see a PS5, however. If PS Now works as well as advertised, the next Sony console might just be a subscription and a controller."

My colleague agrees that there will not be a PS5 console.

My thoughts straight away for PS Now was the steaming service will be used for older games for example - When the Playstation 5 console is released, PS Now will then stream PS4 games to TV's tablets etc. 

That way it keeps everyone happy. We still have the excitement of owning hardware and discs and new customers are happy because they have access to great games at low cost

There will be a PS5

Personally Ill buy the console even if PSN now can play the games, as playing of hardware will always be better.

Plus I know PS5 will be 4k, streaming new 4k games could be a bitch. ill buy a PS5 and buy mostly digital but i want my own hardware. As will many others.

Give people a choice, they can stream everything but also give em a physical  PS5.. maybe for 299 hehehe.

I agree, although 4k streaming I think will be simple by the time PS5 is out. They are looking at 4k streaming for this year

Streaming could be the future but for this networking and internet access has to get way better and more reliable.

Im sure its works fine under optimal conditions for movies.  But for gaming i dont know, and most of the world lacks optimal conditions for stream gaming and will lack em for quite some time.  

Bigger unknown is if next gen will feature a disk drive, will some skus feature disk some not or will all still have em.

journalists and techies always jump on these trains. 2-3 years ago, it was mobile gaming. How many articles were there that said mobile gaming will be king and that console gaming is doomed? It turned out the 8th generation is the fastest selling generation ever.

Any way, other than the point above, I see no problems with streaming games. If they make the technology work and the experience is good, I don't see why not. Except, Gamestop will go out of business, Nintendo will be late to the party and will be in big trouble.

20 YEAR PLAN

Internet integration has to increase to the level to handle all this venture, not just in the USofA but the rest of the world too.

i think the future for playstation is more of an entertainmentnetwork which can be accessed through many devices so i think making a new console in a few years might not be so important anymore.
