LOL OP makes it sound likes it's simple. Buying a company the size of Sony, who is World wide is a major logistic nightmare for one, also Sony won't want to be bought. It's not that easy. MS wouldn't even know what to do with Sony, Sony is Hardware. Makes no sense, other then to appease some xbox fans.

Nah i dont think that would happen. If this situation ever presented itself( which it wont), I could only see Sony letting themselves join Apple.

Because the corruption from Sony will spread like a disease and all of Microsoft will go under.

Buying a huge company is not such an easy task as you make it sound. The Japanese govenrment themselves could step in and impede the deal if they wanted, if it was in the interest of the nation.

I wouldnt mind at all tbh. It would make my console purchasing option very clear and would save me money on buying another console. I would go Nintendo only.

Anyways... when buying a company you have to factor in the profit you are going to make by aquiring it. The Xbox division still hasnt turned a profit overall since it started i believe. Why sink even more money into it? I bet the greedy shareholders want them to go more into mobile and phones and that crap that is easy money (supposidly) than to have microsoft aquire Sony and not make a huge profit from it. Their shares would probably drop in price. I dont think they would like that.

If companies were run by people who only care about the business, then yeah it would make perfect sense. But companies are run by opportunistic people that only care about their own profits.

You know what i think MS should do? I think they should sell Rare and all its properties(excluding Kameo, Viva Pinata and the Kinect games) back to Nintendo.

I'm sure Nintendo would know what to do with their old-friend-franchises

the US antitrust law would require there to be a review.  I doubt it would pass the review, there are too few players in the gaming market.

Not sure about japan's laws but i'll bet they wouldn't let it happen either.

Um, it's literally impossible for that to happen. Why? because Microsoft isn't Japanese. A Japanese company cannot be bought by a non Japanese company, it's a law.
